Hi all,
Looking for opinions as we are trying to decide which resort to make our "home" through resales....
Soooooo.....
Which is your "home"resort and why do you love it?:bounce:

My home resort is OKW. I love the large rooms, spacious balconies, the gentle rise of the exterior stairs, the pastel building colors, the full size washer/dryers, parking near to my unit, and the relaxing atmosphere (which is a direct contrast to those who love BCV or BWV). Also, OKW CMs are just very special people, many have been at the resort since opening day.

We have points at VWL & VB.
VWL is by far our favorite WDW DVC resort, and perhaps our favorite of any WDW resort. We just love the theme. In my opinion, the theme and theming are the best on property. Some do not like the theme, but most would be hard pressed to deny that the theming is not amongst the very best.

I hope that makes sense? :p

I love Boardwalk because I can walk to MGM and Epcot and see Illuminations fireworks from the resort. I love the decor as well. That said, I actually prefer the setting & decor of OKW-the grounds, the parking situation, as well as the more spacious villas. If OKW was where the BW is I'd be in heaven! LOL
Really, I am most pleased that we have BWV points. We always get standard view and I don't think we could get that without it being our home resort.
Also we usually have no problem getting into OKW when we want to stay there, so we get the best of both worlds. I would rather have my points at BWV than any other resort.
I also have HH points and HH- well, I can't say enough about it, beautiful, lots of activities, and on the whole, IMO the best CMS anywhere.

BWV.

Loacation, Location, LOCATION!

We own at VWL and we just love the quiet area. We go in Dec. and the decorations are so beautiful. It is a very homey resort.

We have points at BWV and HH and we love them both! For us, the BWV fits what we like to do (Epcot's are favorite resort) and we like the "hustle and bustle" of the boardwalk itself. It's fun just to sit there and people watch. We also enjoy the restaurants and having them out our "back door!" Plus, I LOVE the decor. I could sit in the lobby for hours and be perfectly content.

HH is just the greatest place to go and relax. We have started spending T'giving there and have made some wonderful new friends (Hi Dottie, Joe, Cam & Howard!!). You can stay as busy or as still as you prefer. My kids love this resort just as much as the WDW resorts too. And the island is soooo beautiful.

We feel extremely blessed to call both resorts home!

Long before I knew BWV was a DVC resort or what DVC was for that mattter, I told my DH if I could stay anywhere at WDW Boardwalk would be the place. Everything about it appeals to me. I love the colors, the (scary) clown pool, all the restaurants and actiivites going on (even after the parks close), the location, the ambience and I love the fact that eventhough it is a timeshare, I still have the feeling of staying in a hotel and not a condo.

We love our home resorts for the same reason that we love our children - they may not be perfect, but their ours! :teeth: We bought at BCVs because we love the fact that it's in the middle of everything (Epcot, BW, MGM), but when we're in our villa, it's still serene, and not on top of all of the noise. Our kids (okay... and us :o ) really enjoy SAB. We're in the process of adding on at VWL because we love the serenity, the proximity to MK. We love to sit downstairs and watch the fire, or play a couple of games of checkers.

Hi,

Location & theme were our deciding factors. We love MGM and Epcot & @ BCV we are within walking distance of both. The theme seems bright @ BCV as well. We will find out in December!! Good luck!

We have only been members for a very short time and only have one trip under our belt, but I do love our new home. When we are on vacation we want to escape the cold and snow of the north and have some fun in the sun!! BCV fits that need for us :sunny:

Location!! BCV is right next to Epcot and Boardwalk and a short walk to MGM. (BWV might have a slight edge on this one) We are close to all the action.

Theme!! Like I mentioned, much of the year is dark, cold and snowy. We love going on vactation to sunny airy places.

Amenities!! Storm-along Bay, fairly close parking , small size, hotel amenities, Beaches and Cream!!!

Let me see..why does our beloved VWL make us want to return again and again? Let me see if I can figure something out. :p

From the moment you drive underneath the entrance sign you are immediately transported away from Florida. You will not see a palm tree again while staying in the WL area. As you drive up, the entrance looms larger and larger until you are parked in front of a massive stone and log building.

As you enter the lobby, even though it's the 100th time, your mouth falls open a bit at the grandeur of a 7 story lobby, themed to a tee. Relaxation is the next feeling as you begin to immediately feel that you are "home".

And then there are all the amenities....the geyser...the main pool that is fed by a mountain stream that starts from a spring in the lobby...Bay Lake which is such a wonderful setting for the Lodge...the bike & boat plan in such a great surrounding area....the nightly Electrical Water Pageant....the wonderful music that is piped throughout the complex outdoor area.

And then there is our other home, BWV, which we love for entirely different reasons. The people watching and happenings on the Boardwalk...the walking access to two parks....the restaurants and night life....the views from all sides each with their own benefits.....and the theming and feel authentic to its name.

We love them both....we are DVC bigamists.:)

You can easily spend days without ever getting or a bus or in a car. You don't have to enter a park to have a full day of entertainment. Never have we felt like there was too much hustle and bustle in the resort room. We are not big crowd people and things have always been quiet in the room. Can you imagine after a long day at the parks, you head home -- then a little later you want a drink, walk, ice cream, etc -- and all you have to do is walk down to the boardwalk.

OKW for the laid back atmosphere and room sizes(low pts). Also for the chance of running into richyams there.

VB for being ocean front and the Beach Cottages. CM's are great also.

Our home is OKW, and we love it because of the roominess. We can rent a 2br, bring a bunch of friends and have a grand old time! The fact that the rooms require less points than the other resorts, combined with the extra bed (the second br in a 2 br has 2 queen beds) means so much.

The pool is nice, the hot tubs are great, and it's a relaxing place. That doesn't mean we don't like to trade out - we loved BCV because we thought being able to walk to Epcot was the greatest thing. However, OKW has so much more room that it's better for us when we're in a group. Good luck with your decision!

The view across Bay Lake at VWL reminds me of my grandparents cottage, where we used to spend our summer vacations. There was even a rustic lodge, where the kids would gather every Saturday to watch Disney movies. Great memories, and VWL is a great place to re-live them, and make new ones with my kids.

Let's see... BWV... Well. We didn't pick BWV as much as it picked us. It was the only DVC resort on sale at the time. Looking at it now, we really like the location, and access to std view room points is a great bonus. We really like thr variety of owning at two very different resorts.

All your input is great. I don't think we will buy in WLV as i am not sure on how accessible the boat is and since my child became disabled from Encephalitis... mosquitos are something we avoid like the devil!

Well, after reading all the posts, I guess you are really confused. People love different places for different reasons. We bought at OKW in 1994 and have such a special affinity there. We used to stay at the Poly(which we loved and still do) prior to DVC and we felt so special when we were fortunate to be able to buy into DVC. It is truly our home away from home. We are now in our mid 50's (our kids are 24 AND 25) and just enjoy the atmosphere, the large rooms, knowing the CM's (who are really extra special), the ability to be able to relax. Also we love to bring family and friends down with us. They always love OKW and several have bought OKW. That is truly enjoyable. There is no question that the Boardwalk Resorts do have the LOCATION and it is great to be able to walk to Epcot and MGM, but that is not one of our priorities, although it may be a priority for you. Each one of us is different, so you really have to look into each of the DVC resorts and try and figure which one will suit your interests best. Lots of Luck:sunny:

I have two favorites! VWL for its calming, restful feeling, and fantastic theming. And BCV for its location of being able to walk to Epcot and the beach theme.:teeth:

We also have points at both places!::yes::
