Why do you love the Poly?

Since Poly keeps winning in the deluxe resort polls for favorite, I'm just wondering, for those who have stayed there, what makes it especially wonderful? thanks for input!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I think you're best bet for comprehensive reviews on the Poly is to do a search. There are many recent threads lauding the many positives of this resort. I'm sure you'll love the Polynesian, we always do. Threehearts

I'm wondering about the atmosphere. I've heard relaxing mentioned a couple times. Of the deluxes I've stayed at, GF and AKL were the two I felt completely relaxed and pampered w/in a day or two. I love the Epcot resorts but I think because they are busier you don't get that sense. At WL, it was more remote, but I didn't feel pampered in the same way. Does the Poly share that same dreamy atmosphere, where you start to feel like you're in paradise?

Also, for those that travel frequently to Hawaii, does the Poly feel like an imitation, or does it have that charm that is completely Disney? (no matter what the theme...) Does it seem like you are in the atmosphere of Adventureland?

Just wondering what to imagine. I know its hard to tell by pictures, and really you only know by staying there. But I'd love to hear others' experiences.

I feel it is completely relaxing when you walk around the grounds you smell the fragrant flowers and scrubs / trees. Very authetic looking (to someone outside of chicago) ;) But I always feel like we are on the extended version of the jungle cruise :teeth: Being at the magic kingdom resorts! The Poly plays subtle jungle music not loud enough to bother you, just enough to notice, and with the breeze off the lagoon and the palm trees very restful. The tiki torches at nite are especially cool. The volcano pool can be crowded and loud at times (its fun) BUT you can slip over to the "quiet" pool with its small alcoves and tables and hide out for a more restful break! :smooth: OH NO, I remeber didn't we just drop our poly ressies for the gf this year, oh no, starting to change my mind again, thought we would try out somewhere we hadn't been in a while (don't want to get burned out on the poly) ;)

Better stop here before I get myself in more trouble. :wave2:

We've stayed at the Poly several times and LOVE it!!! Our last trip was in Feb. Poly is very relaxing and very romantic! We love the tiki torches and beautiful landscaping! If you stay there, I would reccomend plenty of "resort" time to enjoy Poly. We also LOVE Kona for bkfst. and Ohanas for dinner! We have stayed at all the deluxe resorts except BWI and Yacht, but we keep coming back to Poly!!!:bounce:

I love the Poly because when you stay there, it doesn't feel like you are in Central Florida (not that there is anything wrong with that). You really feel like you are at a tropical getway far far away. The resort is beautiful (especially at night), CMs are great and the restraunts are first class. You can't beat the monorail and boat transportation from this resort.

Location was a nice thing for wife and I on our honeymoon (and will be in two weeks when we do it again). A 5 min walk and you can be at the TTC. We did Ohana's on the suggestion of another traveller and had a blast. Steak was great and the view of Cinerella's Castle lit up was breathtaking. Combine those with the atmosphere AND tonga toast, and we had the makings of a
trip that we wouldn't soon forget.

It's so serene and beautiful walking along the paths at night with the tiki torches burning. Even when we're not staying there (we're DVC'ers so we've stayed elsewhere lately), we always make a point to stop by the Poly and simply walk around.

My first and still my favorite...the POLY!::yes::

The atmosphere, proximity to the MK, the Monorail, the lush landscaping, the tiki torches at night, the big rooms, the volcano pool, the cool-crisp smell of the GCH, etc...etc...etc..

I think one of the nicest things about the Poly is that you can see the castle at the MK at any time of the day...First thing you see in the morning...last thing you see at night. I really makes me feel like I am "immersed" in the WDW experience. That and the grounds are beautiful!
