Why do you keep coming back to Walt Disney World?

Having been to WDW 3 times now, I find that there is so much more to see that I haven't even seen yet.

WDW at every season seems like a whole new place, there is always a new attraction, or show to discover. New restaurants to try, waterparks to visit and entertainment to see. WDW obviuosly keeps drawing us back time after time for those reasons, plus it really is a place where you leave your adult responsibilities behind and enjoy acting like a kid again.

No adult looks silly wearing the Goofy hat at WDW, no adult looks silly posing with a character and asking for their autograph.......

A magical escape from reality!

Couldn't agree more! I get pretty overwhelmed by WDW everytime I go, and I am 34! I always tear up the first time I catch a glimpse of that castle, be it Anaheim, Paris or Orlando. When my DS went to WDW for the first time at 3 years old, we weren't sure how he would react to anything, the first time he saw the castle...oh my word, we were dragged at about 100 miles an hour down main street, "mummy look, mummy look, mummy look" all the way, I have never seen him so excited!

Sometimes you just want to be a kid again, and WDW is the best place for me to do that.

It's an escape for me. While I vacation in WDW, the real world does not exist. There are no bills, jobs, deadlines, clients, etc. I can just relax. We don't usually rent a car, and rarely even leave the property. We sleep in, eat late, take long walks, swim, in addition to riding some great rides, watching amazing shows, listening to phenomenal singers, and interacting with the best employees on the earth. After my May trip, I will not be returning until late 2006 or 2007. I am already sad.

WOW Gigi1313, this is almost our exact same reason. We are HAPPY there and forget all our troubles. We can BREATHE for a few days. It's so lovely and no one in my extended family understands at all. We are really berated for going to WDW so much.

my sister always says: standing in line is not my idea of a vacation... and i try like heck to get her to realize there is sooooo much more than "standing in line" at wdw but she doesn't... too bad/so sad for her and hers!

dh has always joked that disney is "cult-like" and i don't want to be the one to point out to him that they've "GOT HIM!" LOL!

It is such an escape, it is like the real world does not exist when you are there. It's one of the few places in the world where it is not only OK, but expected, for you to be able to act like a kid. And there is so much to do there, no matter how many times I have been there is always something that is new to me.

We will be going on trip #10 this June/July. WDW is the one place my husband, duahgter and I all love to visit often. We have often looked into other vacation spots, but we really get our money's worth out of a Disney vacation. Plus, now that we've seen so much of the parks, we can relax and set a leisurely pace and enjoy! We took my parents with us last trip and they always used to say "You're going BACK to Disney World again?" While walking through Epcot on the second day of the trip, my dad said to me "Now I understand why you come here so often. Although things are expensive, you know how to cut expenses and you get a LOT for your money here." :goodvibes We even said he'd like to go back again sometime!! That's a real accomplishment in his case!

This is a great thread. It poses a really good question. The answer for me is this: I have yet to find another place where I can replicate that feeling I get when I'm at Disney World. When I do go somewhere else, which is seldom, I usually feel regret as I know I could have better spent my time and my money at Disney World.

When I am at the "World," it takes me to a place where I really only have two choices to make: 1)What ride to go on next; 2)Where to eat next...I really like it when I really have those kinds of choices to make. Life becomes really simple and I can put my focus on all things that are fun and whimsical.

There's something for everyone there, regardless of age and it provides more choices than any other vacation destination I know of.

Think about it...how many places have music coming out of almost every bush and twinkly lights in almost every tree...with the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies wafting in the air on Main Street, USA? Only WDW.

Can't wait to go as it's not much longer now... :cool1:

Check out our Avatar. The place makes us smile. What more can you ask?

Magic!!! Definitely!! The only place that I can go and live in a fantasy for a week.

we keep coming back because of the feeling... the MAGIC we feel when we arrive at the WL, the sight of the Three Cabalerros fountain at the All Stars Music, getting that rush you get at the start of Illuminations, the sight of the castle as you stroll down mainstreet, the look of amazement when everyone but yourself realize that you are standing next to Devine and are completely oblivious to her, the look on your DW's face when the hadrasouar ? appears out of nowhere and scares the daylights out of her, riding RnR with your teenage son who as every parent knows you always battle with but this time you are totally on the same page and are just lovin every minute you are spending together at WDW, eating the shaved ice at japan on a hot july afternoon, almost making it into the hotseat at Millionare in MGM ans having everyone proud of you, looking out at DD from SSR which you just bought into

i could just keep going on and on

watching wishes with my DW and feeling like we are the only ones in MK, fish and chips and bass ale at R&C,

this is a great way to end my day. thinking of why we keep coming back and reliving all of the great times and the great times to come

thanks
tom :wizard: :teeth:

Something great always happens to us there. We consider it sort of like our family retreat center -no phones, no outside schedules, HAKUNA MATATA, BABY

We will keep going back simply because there is no more magical place like it on earth (well in our minds anyway). When I walk down Main Street and get that first glimspe of the Castle, my knees get a little weak and my emotions run high! I truly feel like I am at home. All reality escapes when we are at Disney World. There is no war or terrorists -just the feeling that all is right in the world even if it is only for a few days. We will be back as often as possible because it doesn't matter if you are 2 or 102, there is always something in "the world" for you to do.

First trip in '99, my mom, dd, then 6, and myself. Dh said no way was he going to an amusement park for 5 days. Fast forward 18 months. We go with another family. Dh finds that 'hey, this is fun, but let's do it with just us.' So, '03 we go again. He likes it so much he suggests DVC. Mom passes away, dh says..'take dd and go to wdw for a quickie trip. it will do you both good.' We go again in '04 in August and again for Thanksgiving. Again in June. Why???
We have tried going to the beach, renting a cottage...the whole deal. Tried it 4 times. For the money we paid, my dd and I spent a lot of time by ourselves since dh got bored and went back home to work. He needs to be on the go..type A personality. And needs to get away from work. So, WDW has everything he needs. He can golf if he wants (but hasn't lately, says he has more fun with us!), swim in a terrific pool, eat some great food or just snack, go to various parks, play mini-golf, go to a club. So, now we have someplace every person in the family is happy with and that gives us some great family memories. We go as a family and sometimes dh stays 5 days and leaves, so that dd and I can have mother/daughter time for 3-4 days. Works wonderfully for us.

Of course, the rest of the family calls it a cult. Ds, 32, just rolls his eyes when we talk about it. Their loss. They have no idea what they're missing. We are even looking forward to going when dd no longers want to be there...just the two of us...now that's magical.

Because the look on my childrens faces are priceless. I love reliving my expirence through them. I love seeing it through their eyes.

I love it there too, can't quite put my finger on why but I really do like it.

We keep going to Disney because of the magic and the feeling that we can escape the real world for a few days. :wizard:
