Why do you have to give out personal info to check on AP rates?

This is really irking me. A few days ago I called to check on AP rates, on my dime I might add, and after holding for 15 minutes, I have to go through a hulabaloo just to be told that there were no AP rates available for the time I needed them. I just called again this evening, and after manuevering thru the call system (GRR) I hold for 15 minutes and again am asked name, zip, address..........grrrrrrrrrr I declined to give them out and said I was just checking AP availability and was told the CM could not check any further without this info. IS this true? Does anyone have any advice on how to get in and out of one of these calls quickly?

Yes, it's true. They won't tell you anything until you give them the names and ages in your party, address, phone #, email address, etc, etc. It's annoying.

How the heck can they get away with that? I just dont understand?

I am not saying I agree with the changes, I am just the messenger.

They did this because hundreds of people call daily, tying up phone lines just checking for AP and code discounts months in advance.

Everytime someone calls and does not actually book a room at that moment they see that as lost revenue. They feel that requiring the person calling to fully idenify themselves might curtail some of this activity.

Some people call every day for days on end.

The rates if available will be posted here immediately, I would not waste my time and phone call checking.

Another good reason to use Dreams Unlimited Travel, let them do the checking.

You see, that is why it irks me so. I am not calling to check to release of codes. I am simply calling to see if any AP room cancelations have been released into the system for the current code. I already have a trip planned, we are leaving on Wednesday. I was inquiring as to what was available, as I was thinking of getting another room at PopCentury for the space.

I agree. It's kinda like when you were in grade school and a few students got the entire class in trouble. I hated that!

If you already have an exisiting reservation and you give them your confirmation number you should not be required to give them all that info. They already have it.
