Why do they want to know the ages?

Can anyone tell me why MS wants to know the ages of the kids occupying their villas? I can understand, if it's for occupancy purposes, that you need to know if any are under the age of 3... but why ask for EVERY child's age? And certainly, for tickets, you would have to give ages (to determine if it's adult fare or child). BUt for the villas? Why do they care?

Just curious....

Several reasons
. . . ticket sales (child vs adult pricing)
. . . occupancy (regular beds vs cots, cribs or sleeping bags)
. . . marketing (what they might be able to propose to you)
. . . historical (data base info gathering for general reference)
. . . historical (data base info gathering on you for future)

I guess I've never heard them ask for specific ages, only "adults, juniors, and under 6" (or 3 or some young age).

One thing they will always verify is that there is someone on the ressie that is 18 or older. I didn't know this, and once I tried naively to make a ressie for my niece and her friends as a graduation gift. No dice, and in hindsight, mature teens or not, I don't disagree with that policy. In fact, I was told it is the law.

Remember a book called 1984, well THE MOUSE knows more than Big Brother. lol

In the past, I've purchased park passes, and hoop-dee tickets at check-in. Maybe having this info on the reservation helps to speed things along.

... and they are tracking the migratory patterns of all the mousekateers out there.

Could it be for issuing the resort ID cards? I know the children's cards don't open the doors unless you request that they do.

I thought of that too, but they always ask us at check in what privelidges each party can have.

Every time I've made a Disney reservation I've been asked the ages of my children. This includes the reservation I just made for the Magic Kingdom Family Tour. I could see them just asking, "any under three?" or something similar if it were for pricing. I believe it is because of marketing, both specifically for you and to get an idea of who the clientele is in general.
