Why do they want to know if I am on DDP when I make my dining reservations?

I made all our dining reservations for our April trip two weeks ago, to make sure I could secure our times and locations. They told me that if I choose to add the ddp to my vacation, I have to call back and get it added to each of my dining reservations. My question is, why? If I don't do it, will something happen and they won't be able to charge my meal to ddp?

The reason I am hesitant to do this is that currently my package is booked for 4 people... and my ressies are for 5 people because my dh will not know until January if he can join us on our trip. I am afriad if I call and add the ddp to our reservations, they will see that I only am booked for 4 people and will force me to change all my dining reservations to 4 people.

So what do you all think?
First, do I have to call and tell them that I now have ddp, and if I don't will anything happen?
Second, if I call, can they somehow see that I only have 4 people on the ddp, and force me to change my reservations down to 4?

Sorry if this is confusing, and thanks for your opinions!!!!!

Just tell them you have 4 on the DDP and one that is not. They don't stop you from having a guest at dinner. You can always pay OOP for anyone you like.

Nonsense. I don't know why they would have told you that. An ADR is an ADR is an ADR. Doesn't matter if you're on the DDP or not. The reservation is good either way.

Your ADRs are no reflection on your room reservation. I just got done making my ADRs for my April/May trip and some are for 2, some are for 4 and some are for 6. My room ressie is for 2 adults. Not a problem. They don't know if you have friends and family staying elsewhere in Orlando. In our case we have friends who live and work there and we meet them for several dinners. The CRO CMs have no problem booking my ADRs with a different party size each meal.

Either you misunderstood what they said or they are grossly misinformed, not that unusual situation.
THey ask when you make the reservation for ONE REASON, because if you are on the plan they have a script they must read to you letting you know that that place IS or IS NOT on the plan, and how many TS credits etc. that is it.
they do NOT need to know if you are planning on using the plan for any particular meal and you do NOT have to call them back to add that info to any of your DINING reservations, other than something like CRT where they charge your card up front, since if you plan to do the dining plan for that they will take your card number but not charge it.

Thanks for the info!

When I called, they initially asked me if I was ddp, and I said not yet, because I am trying to figure out if it will be worth it for my family. That lady said, in an almost slightly scolding type voice, "You know, you're going to have to call back and change every one of these ADRs to reflect that you are now on ddp, if you go with it'. The way she said that made me think that unless you tell them in advance that you are ddp, you can't use it for that meal or something. Which does not make sense, but you never know what policies might be in effect.

Anyway, thanks for the info!
