Why do they ask for everyone's names now?

Is this something new? It's definitely annoying! I keep calling to get different prices and options for December, and checking on codes, but to give me a price they want the names of everyone who'd be staying in the room. Why? Do certain names get special pin codes? LOL

They used to just ask how many adults and how many children will be in the party, but now they want names for each person. It doesn't make sense to me, because it's not like they want that info so they can volunteer that a party member has a pin code attached to their name. You have to specifically ask that question to get the answer.

What gives?

I'm sure it's just the way their screens work on the computer. The turnover is so high over there, that they folks barely know how to fill in the information as each screen comes up.

You'll know when you get a good long-termer, they know exactly how to navigate the screens and give you the best rate first, then ask all the questions later.

Actually once the person travels they are already in the computer. When I call they ask who is traveling with me. I usually just say the first name and they say, we got him. Then I tell them my daughter's first name, they say, here she is and then I tell them, her husband, and they say the name. When I've asked about a pin, they do indeed check everyone's address/name for any discount (if you get a good CM). While I never get any emails or snailmail about pins, I've been told on every occassion that I have a pin next to someone/and or everyone's name on my list. Even down to my grandson who's gone 20 times now (just turned 14 yo). After 60+ visits, I'm sure my file is very large. Actually when making ADRs often the CMs will comment on my reservations, generally saying "you sure do like to eat here". I can see it becoming a pain when just checking rates, but I generally just check rates online to get some quotes.
