That they need to report people for no reason?


I was in the pirates lobby, and a girl asks me to trade. I open the trade window. She says she wants to trade for my magic. I told her I'm using it for my flip or minnie offer. She keeps asking and I keep saying the same thing.

Then she says.. "fine.. reported."

Why do they think they need to do that?

Don't people get that the other person can decide if they want to trade their items or not?

4. What happens if you send false reports to VMK Staff members?

If you send a false report you could get banned. Yes, we want you to report players that aren't following the VMK Values (no, you won't get banned for reporting someone - if your report is indeed real), but DO NOT send false reports. Our Moderators and Staff research your report and if we find you've reported something which isn't true, you'll get a warning (which goes against your account), and you possibly could be banned. (The VMK Staff is very busy and are working very hard to keep you safe – so don't send them on a wild goose chase, it's not a good use of their time.)

The other day i was on VMK and there was a girl who was making fun of me. She said that i was dumbo. I told her to stop but she wouldn't stop. So I reported her. ( Do you think I should of? ) Well then 5 min. later this message pops up saying you should only report when it is an emergency. What did i do??

personally, I think you did the right thing. If someone we're making fun of me and I asked them to stop and they didn't, I would report them because they we're being nice..

So I don't think you did anything wrong with that.

I hate it when VMKers threaten to report for no reason. Especially in Pirates! We can't stress enough that its just a game. The people aren't shooting you because they don't like you, they're shooting you because thats the point of the game!

yes i agree, this kid i was playing against in pirates told me i was mean for winning and said he repored me. Gee it is part of the game to shoot the other ships just like you said Pirate

HAH lol thats bad.. someone reported me.. a FAKE report, just bc she got mad at me bc i was pretending to be an agaent...so what if im an agent? wow..she was in a bad mood..so then riiight after she left a message came up , said i was banned for a day >_< thats not really fair bc i did nothing the ENTIRE DAY and i know for a fact i didnt say anyyyyything bad at ALLL. >_>

I think a lot of time people threaten to report with no intent to truly act on their threat.

A lot of these players who make threats are mouthy children that are pouting when they don't get their way. Others are people who are always on the defense.

Don't let the "I'll report you" threat get under your skin. If you have done nothing wrong, then just laugh it off.

I don't think she reported, she might be trying to scare you to trade the item to her.

If somebody in real life called you dumb, would you tell your teacher or parent or police? Probably not. So I don't think you should have reported her.

Remember, vmk gave you this wonderful tool called "The Ignore Button". Click on the person, and then Click on Ignore. They can no longer talk to you! Wouldn't you like that in real life? A magic spell to get a bully to stop talking? The other wonderful tool vmk gives you is called "Your Legs". You use them to walk out of the room. A bully can't bully you if you are not there. Save reporting for more serious stuff. This way the VMK staff can spend their time on real problems, not name calling.

While this is true and I agree, that does not always work nor is it always whats best. Each situation has to be examined and you have to make a decision. First the ignore button expires rather quick. Second, while true you should not report everything - it is a value violation and is reportable but has to be taken in context. If the person says it once no big deal especially if it is not part of a pattern of behavior. If the person is hunting you down following you saying these things to you, it is a bigger offence considered harrassment and part of a pattern. If he is taunting everyone that comes in the room again it is harassmant ant part of a pattern. It should be reported. This can be taken to pirates in much the same way. If someone talks trash, avoid playing games with them but if you see it repeatedly in the lobby or random games then its going to be reported. As an adult that plays, I try to be observant before I hit the buzzer, but because my child plays I don't want her experiencing some things be it language or activity or abuse - and I don't want her picking up bad things from the game.

I agree, Adventuredaz, but so many times for relatively minor things people report and forget that they can leave the situation. They forget they have power to remove themselves. Yes, for ongoing issues Reporting is the correct tool.
