Why Do People Like Pins So Much?

I was wondering this.My friend never ever thought she'd get any when she went this year,after seeing my collection,but once she saw a tink one,she got hooked!LOL!I think I started collecting because,THEY'RE SO SHINEY!LOL! I also like jewelry and they are,to me,cheap (er) jewelry.What is your therory?

I like them because they're like little pieces of artwork that I can collect and enjoy whenever I want to!

OMG!SHINEY would have been the major reason I started collecting them, other than being a fan of several/different Disney characters. What I really love is the art, imagination and humor that goes into so many of them .. plus there's such a huge variety and styles so it's hard to get bored of them

.. and there's the entertainment value of accessorizing with them, picking which to wear (as jewerly!) as accents, adding them as decorations to wrapped packages and erm.. just doing the MINEMINE!SHINEY dragon hoarding thing too..

They remind me of the park trip I got them on, and their little pieces of art.

It's easier to bring those back and store them than 200 t-shirts.

It is a super cool gift you can bring home that doesn't take up too much space. Plus the pursuit of the one pin you have to have makes them fun too.

However, it then becomes an addiction, much like pizza and Pepsi. You have 8 different auctions ending on eBay at one time and you stress out until you realize that you have won them all.

Then you buy a pegboard to display them....
Then you sell off your collection to help raise money for your daughters neverending Princess collection...
Then you decide to get back into it, but you are only happy with super rare pins...

It is a vicious cycle my friends. But it is rather fun though.

1.) Because they are small and easy to manage and don't take up too much space
2.) Because they are an inexpensive souvenir
3.) Because it is fun to search for different ones that you like which you don't have in your collection.......yet....

Of course 1 and 2 become a little void when your pins start to number in the thousands....

And 3 isn't quite as much fun when you try to collect almost everything with a pointy back that has a copyright Disney on it....

but really.......we could stop anytime we wanted to......yeah, that's it.....

We were just starting to collect ( well DD was) and we picked up a few and headed down to Vince & Suzi's pin event . It was a bit over welming at first but everyone was so nice and now it's really started for Her If you go into her TINK ROOM in my sig you can see the Original Park banner with TINK and Magical Gatherings filled with pins.

Thanks Vince we just got our 6 ft banner in today we are going to use that one as her door . So it will really be a Magical gathering once you enter her room.

When I got hooked on pins they represented a memory, they were easy to store (as opposed to my snowglobes), they were fun to search for and trade, and I met lots of great people standing in lines.
