Why do people boot up old threads(*Bugbugs in FW Cabins*) without a good reason

We all see it time and again. Some old thread is booted up without anything new. IMO its just to get attention, to scare people, put down something!

The latest is the *bedbud in FW CABINS*.......it was originially posted in March 2011 and a poster booted it up with out any reason other then to make people think its still a problem.........just to get attention!

We all know bedbugs have been a problem around the US and the world. Reports are that Disney is very good at cleaning out the problem when reported to them.

Sometimes you just have to wonder what some posters what?......attention?....put down something?...scare people?

The *booting up* poster is showing a lack of sense and charater in my opinion

well.. to be perfectly honest.. some new posters don't always look at the dates when they are scanning threads and reading.. and that particular poster was "BRAND NEW" .. first post ever .. their introduction to the DIS ... was in that thread.

So maybe we ALL could take a step back and remember how daunting this place was when we first arrived and go out of our way to be helpful and friendly and welcoming ... ? The exact same character traits we admire so in Cast Members who DO NOT roll their eyes when we look at them and smile and ask 'what time is the 3 o clock parade' ?

Just my 2c. And it's worth about the that much. LOL

I think new posters pulling up very old threads find them through a Google search, so it's really not as sinister as you might think. Now if some poster like me (with a zillion posts) does it - then I would guess at more nefarious motives!

Also, if you use the search function for a keyword, sometimes some very old threads come up higher on the list than more recent threads. If someone searched for bedbugs, that thread would pop up and they might not notice the date.

Sometimes it is just spammers, searching for certain words so they can post and add a related link in the signature. I didn't read the FW thread, but it doesn't sound like that is what happened in that case.

What was said poster's response to the old thread they brought up? If it was a stupid comment or they just put "bump" then maybe they have some kind of weird motive. But if they have a legit response to the thread, they probably weren't aware of the date. As PP said, it's likely they found it through google search or even searching the boards, and didn't consider looking at the date. They probably searched "bedbugs at FW cabins" or something of the like to see if there were any discussions on this, assuming it is a concern of theirs.

On reflection and reading the above posts I have to back up a bit here.I did not see that the poster was very new and this place can indeed be hard to handle at the start!

I appoloze that this one!

But my over all view remains with other old posts.......it just seems some like to stir the pot !
