Why do people avoid the PM EMH?

I am bummed that they don't to the PM ones at AK anymore. We really missed it last year.

Me too. I miss DAK EEMH. Especially, when it is hot and humid in FL. Also, DAK at night is beautiful with the Tree of Life illuminated.

We don't avoid EEMH. Our family loves them!!! Like others, we have some great memories of EEMH at the MK until 3 AM. It is fun having the MK almost all to yourselves. DS6 got to ride Dumbo with Donald Duck at the end of one EEMH. A truly magical moment.

We are rope drop people, so it is harder to be out really late and then be up really early the next day.

We went to one evening EMH last year at MK, and it was packed! I kept telling my family that it would thin out, and it really didn't until the last hour (1 am or so). We went during Halloween week, so with MK being closed so early most of the other days of the week, I think a lot of people used that EMH.

Do y'all like the pm EMH at DHS and Epcot, too? I have never done one of those because it seems like too few rides=really long lines.

I think the notion that you should always skip EMH stems from the recommendation not to go to a park on EMH days unless you're planning on using them. If you use them, then they can be a nice way to get a lot done.

I think you are right. I've talked to people before who avoid the PM EMH most likely because they misunderstand that recommendation. We personally love MK EMH, but do the other two also. I really miss AK PM EMH

We love EMH! After the crowd thins a bit after regular closing, the ride lines are very short. One time I went to Country Bears for their last showing, around Midnight. I was the only one there! (My family went to Splash.) The CM and I sat down in the front and he let me take all the flash pictures I wanted. He told me little insider things about the different bears, and some funny stories about glitches. I felt like I was getting a personal tour.

We did an evening EMH at MK this April, when the park was open until 3am. I couldn't believe how EMPTY the park was! (Granted, it was after spring break, so it wasn't incredibly crowded to begin with... but still)

I think we rode Space Mountain 7 times with no wait, and then just wandered around walking on to any ride we wanted. Being the only person in the SFR Treehouse is really cool!

The Splash side of the park was especially empty, because BTMRR was still closed for refurb, and it was a little chilly to get on water rides. But the atmosphere in the park was amazing.

We did see quite a few people literally dragging their sobbing, over-tired children. But that was the only complaint I had. It was overall a really beautiful time!

We went to WDW the first week of August and loved the PM EMH option. Especially at MK.

It worked for us even though my nephew was 5 and niece was nearly 2. We took long breaks after lunch, napped, went swimming, etc. Then we were ready to go. The kids napped in the stroller if they got tired and my BIL usually took the little one back to their room around 11p while the rest of us carried on.

We did the AMs too, but we didn't do the EMHs every day. It worked out great for us.

Our first night at WDW, there was a PM EMH at MK. So my sis and I took my nephew, everyone else wanted to rest from the travel. It was his first trip and we had a blast hitting a bunch of rides and catching the 2nd parade.

We are NOT morning people and love the late hours. Matter of fact, we're heading to MK in a few minutes.

I WISH i could take MORE advantage of them.. this past trip we tried SO HARD.. we slept in, relaxed at pool, TRIED to get all the kids to nap, but alas at regular park closing, kids started passing out .. once three are fast asleep it really makes bus difficult..
we decided until everyone is bigger dh and i will have to take turns taking the older kids, because they were really bummed we couldnt stay until 2 am.. i look so forward to the day we can take full advantage of pm emh!

Found out on my trip last week that I don't think I can do extra magic hours. I don't avoid them so much as I'm never in the right state for them.

I find that 8:30-9:00am is my sweet spot for waking up, so I'm usually asleep for early hours. Yet even sleeping in until then, I find myself totally wiped by 10:00-10:30 (even with an afternoon break) so I'm usually too tired to take advantage of the evening hours.

I love evening EMH! MK is the best, because it's so late. I'm a night-owl by nature, have to make myself go to bed early so I can get up and be at work by 8am, lol!

But, when I'm at WDW, I'm energized! I can get up early and stay until they close it down. My kids hang right there with me; one time, when DD was still at home, the MK closed at 2am. We had just come off of BTTM when they closed and it felt like we were as far from the exit as we could be. It wasn't crowded at all and as we walked from Frontierland, through Liberty Square, using the Castle as our beacon, we were pretty much the only people left. We passed an occasional CM, and a few maintanance people, but not many guests.

It was kind of eerie, but we still talk about how cool it was to have the park pretty much to ourselves. It felt like we were 'tucking the MK in' for the night, lol!

I always plan on evening EMH when we're there and love every minute of it! As for morning EMH, not happening!

Exactly! We never do rope drop so we get to the parks later and stay until close. Several nights during our previous trip, MK was open until 1AM or 2AM. The last two hours were the best, we could walk on all rides and stay on them several times back to back.

On those nights, we slept in, hung around the hotel and then got into the parks at 1PM-2PM. Grabbed lunch, watched the parade and then started hitting rides and characters.

I don't avoid it. But we like to stay up later and get up later (we aren't rope droppers).

Although typically the first hour and a half of PM EMH are just as busy as a busy day at the park. If you can stick it out further into the night, you'll find shorter lines. OR if you are there to soak up the atmosphere or go on the rides with typically shorter lines, it's good.

I believe the CMs begin checking for room keys at the entrances of rides and shows. As long as you don't want to ride or see anything, though, you're free to stay in the park during EMH.

Cast Members check for room keys at all rides so if you don't have a room key, you can't ride. If you just want to hang around the park, I suppose you could but I wouldn't see the point.

My hubby loves the PM EMH. But he doesn't go with me and the kids. If we overlap our vacation with our friends, then my DH goes with our one friend. I'm fast asleep in the room with the our kids and my friend is fast asleep in her room with her kids. It works out nicely for the two "boys" when we do that. The two of them love going on the same ride 4 times in a row. The next day they're like two little kids in a candy shop talking about their "adventure" the night before.

Cast Members check for room keys at all rides so if you don't have a room key, you can't ride. If you just want to hang around the park, I suppose you could but I wouldn't see the point.

Shopping, eating, atmosphere, people-watching.

The reasoning I'm avoiding them in my trip planning is because I have a hard time sleeping in strange beds and need eight hours or so of sleep. I can't go to 3 Am to get the most out of Evening EMH. I am up by 7 AM or so, so I'm going to try Morning EMH on my trip this time.
