Why do Nemo rooms cost more?

I just priced out our January stay for 8 nights. Why are the Nemo rooms $90 more than the other suites? I never noticed this price difference before, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.

I've never noticed it, but if they are it's probably because of their proximity to the main pool and lobby - like preferred rooms.

They have not been before, but I am not surprised. They are always the ones booked first. They are closest to the feature pool and the main building (depending on the room). And personally, I like the theme best (it is the most gender neutral I think too). I think they are probably trying to spread out the reservations a bit. From what I have seen in terms of popularity of suites: Nemo (1st), Cars (2nd, but they have 3 buildings instead of 2, so more rooms), then Lion King.

We stayed there in October and the Nemo rooms are definitely the closest and have the best pool. It is a huge property and it is quite a hike to get to the back sections. Not bad in the morning, but a killer at night when your feet are killing you :D

It stinks because me and my one daughter wanted Nemo..... but with the price increase my other daughter won out and got Lion King. She is a happy girl!!!

My favorite is the cars section! I knew this was coming though. Next will be rooms in the LM section being priced out as well. The ones facing the pool, upcharge! Heck, any of the rooms facing a pool, up charge!

Wellllll - fairly easy. To answer the original post: because WDW can get people to pay more for them :). We've never stayed at that resort.... but the pattern is fairly consistent.

Any time Disney notices people consistently requesting a specific room type or room location, they tend to add an additional cost for that room. Makes perfect sense. From what I understand, there was a time when they did not charge extra for a pool view, but since so many people requested them, they realized they could put a premium charge on those rooms. It does tend to distribute guests more evenly throughout the World.

I agree that the Nemo rooms have the neatest decor. But I am not sure I would want to stay in one again. Our room was first floor and faced the pool. We had a nice view and the room was conveniently located, but the room was so loud - even well past midnight. Like other preferred vs. standard room options at Disney, you often trade convenience for sleep quality. Since Disney doesn't yet charge extra for "quiet" rooms, I am guessing most guests choose convenience over quiet.

We stayed at AOA in March in a Nemo room- 3rd floor facing the pool. We were a short walk to the main building and busses. Our room was super quiet- we couldn't hear anything. We also had to stand by windows to get a phone signal- the walls are THICK!

I can't imagine staying in a little mermaid room and walking to them after a long day in the parks- they are FAR!!
