After, reading several threads, I am not sure if getting a DDE is right for us. This is the first year we have had an AP. Correct me if I am wrong, but you can only use the DDE at TS restaurantsand lounges? This includes beverages, alcholic and nonalcoholic? I can not use the DDE at CS in the parks or at resorts ( I know there is some question as to if you can use it at a resort w/o a TS restaurant)? If there is something I am missing let me know. The thing is our next trips will be budget trips and we will be eating at CS, possibly one TS meal per trip. Thanks!!

Here is a listing of where you can use the DDE...if you don't frequent table service meals it may not be that advantageous to purchase. We love it!

Your description is roughly correct. At one TS per trip you do not want the DDE card as it cost $50. You would have to spend well over $250 on TS meals to make it worthwhile.

If your TS is CG you could easily spend that! We paid for our card I don't know how many times over!

There are 8 of us going and almost every meal we have planned will be covered by the DDE card. We always eat at TSs even for lunch and have enjoyed taking the break during the day for a nice sit down air conditioned meal. Add a few glasses of wine with dinner each night and it will more than pay for itself.

We didn't eat in TS restaurants all that much this past week and we've already more than paid for our DDE....we had it paid for after 3 meals and after that it was all discount. That said we probably wouldn't have done it if we weren't returning in September and next January when we can still use it.

We did use DDE at Flame Tree in AK....it was nice getting the discount on counter service and I wish it would cover CS everywhere and not just AK and the Value Resorts, though that's mainly because with 3 kids (11, 5, and 1) TS is just too hard sometimes.

The DDE card now costs $60 with an additional charge of $25 for a second card for a spouse. Unless you will spend $300 at the table service restaurants, lounges, and AK restaurants in a years time, you will lose money on it.

In your case, it doesn't sound like a good choice.

However, for families that enjoy TS meals and are feeding 4 or 5 or 6 people, it can pay for itself in 2 or 3 meals! THAT is a good deal, as far as I'm concerned......

Absolutely. As we dine at 2 or 3 TS restaurants a day, it is wonderful for us. I was just responding about the OP's plans.
