:scared1::scared1::scared1: 12" by Friday...why or why do I live in Chicago???

Hey DebinIA, do me a favor and keep it by you? 'k? :lmao:

Quick! run to the store and by the essentials: Bread, milk and esp. TP!:scared1:

My BIL was actually just at the store and he said it was packed with people doing just that!

I'm mostly worried about my poor DH. He's supposed to fly home from NYC tomorrow. Something tells me that's not happening according to plan.

HAHA... I'm actually from north of Chicago but now live in NE Tennessee. You would think we were going to get a blizzard here the next couple of days the way the stores look right now. Glad I got my shopping done at 8am this morning! Now I admit it can be pretty bad up in the mountains, but we had VERY VERY light flurries for about an hour this morning... so they canceled most schools...

freaking out here - need to head out of Ohare tomorrow (first flight) for the Disney Marathon!

I feel the same way here in SE MN. We've got enuf snow and cold already to last the winter. No more. Yet another storm with 5" of snow starting tonight.

My DD in Rapid City has 6 foot drifts round her house from their last blizzard. They had to push the 4 foot away from the slider to let their dogs out in the yard, LOL.

herc.

HAHAHA...wait...HAHAHA...I live in the snowiest large city in the US, Syracuse, we received 2 feet this past weekend, and honestly, it was nothing, I did errands on Sunday while it was snowing the hardest, it was no issue.

Seriously, I don't understand the store rush thing. So you get 10 inches on Thursday? By Friday they've plowed the roads and you can get to the stores again.

There might be a six hour window in which the roads are too bad to go out. But who can't survive six hours without getting to the grocery?? Silly snow scaredy-cats!

I'm getting hit with that storm right now! So far it's not TOO bad, but they're talking 8-10" by morning. What makes it worse.. I live in Iowa. It snows a lot EVERY YEAR. For some reason our streets department can't figure that out. They're never prepared for winter, so our streets are always nasty for a long time after it snows. Ugh.

There's a big story on our local news right now because a local snowmobiler went missing Sunday night, and the search party still hasn't found him. :sad2: It's been frigid since he went riding (less than 20 degrees, windchills below zero) and now we're getting all this snow on top of it. It sounds like the odds of finding him alive aren't very good.

When I left my Mom's house in Rochester on Saturday morning, it was -15 air temp.

By the time I got home five hours later to WI, it had warmed up a whole 15 degrees ~ to 0.

HAHA... you obviously have never lived in NE TN. There are literally areas where the plows can't get to. We had snow yesterday and side roads in the main city were just now getting plowed. Anything outside of the main cities will MAYBE get plowed by tonight, but it usually takes 3-4 days.

So I can understand the store rush thing to an extent around here. Some really remote places will be stuck for 5+ days.

Yeah he's about 20 minutes from us, then. I'm not sure how much we wound up getting, I'm guessing about 8". The wind is supposed to pick up later though and cause some drifting and blowing snow. Yuck.
