Why Disney wanted Pixar

That's an interesting article, I must say that I don't really agree that they have been a failure in the last 10 years - especially with Lilo & Stitch (which is everywhere in WDW)

Very interesting - Thanks :thumbsup2

I think much of the other animation has given Disney a wide audience choice and the Pixar offering has given Disney the iceing on the cake :)

Mandy I completely agree about Lilo & Stitch and I believe they will be enduring and endearing characters for years to come :)

However in relative terms (with the exception of Stitch ;) ) I think there has been a bit of a lack of success in the animation arena at Disney of late. I think of films like Brother Bear, that Pirate one whose name I've forgotten already etc and although they were pleasant enough to watch I'm not sure they will be around forever like the "so called" Disney classics like Lady & The Tramp, Cinderella (or more recently but not in the last ten years) the Little Mermaid, The Lion King, etc.

I have probably forgotten a really great Disney animation film in the last ten years and will look like a complete idiot now

But if I think of GREAT Disney films of late I think of The Incredibles, Toy Story (and Lilo & Stitch ;) ) which are Pixar (except L&S)

Very Interesting!

I think it's good that Disney have identified that what was essentially the bedrock of their business (Animation) has been very weak for the past 10 years. Stitch is really the only good characterisation that they have produced, I would exclude Lilo as I think she is just part of the Stitch package.

I'm glad that Disney had a change of heart over their future with Pixar but i would also like to see them come up with some more quality output of their own rather than just knocking out Special Edition DVD's of their classics and Cinderalla 3, 4 & 5
