It seems like the Polynesian gets a lot of love and dislike on the boards. I know why people love it but I'm curious as to the reasons people disliked it. I'm considering a stay there this September so I'd really love to hear the reasons.

Why didn't you like the Polynesian?

Thank you!

We really wished they had a hottub. We also wished they had more chairs around the pool. That is about it.

Didn't care for the theme of the resort at all. I'm just not a fan of the South Pacific motif. Also just didn't like O'hanas -- the food and the service just seemed to be lacking. I'm sure it is a wonderful resort -- it's just not for me.

I wish it wasn't so nice since it spoiled us for all of the other resorts. We always compare them to the Poly. No resort is perfect, but the Poly (IMHO) comes the closest. Jay

I didn't like that I had to leave!!! Just couldn't believe someone did not like that Poly HA HA HA!! I love it......but the pool at least the kid pool is crowded!!! Just my 2 cents!! Hope you pick a resort that you love!!

Although we didn't stay there, we did walk through on our way to the Luau. We thought the lobby was LOUD due to the waterfall. We also discussed that we wouldn't like to be spread out in other buildings and have to go to the main building to go to a store, etc. However, it was just our first impression -- we didn't stay there.

Only stayed at the Poly once in late 1999. The room smelled moldy and there where a lot of dust bunnies under the furniture.

I'm a WL person, and I wondered if separate buildings was a pain at the Poly. I've thought about trying the Poly because of so many good reports, but the thought of being in a building separated from the wonderful lobby, pool, and restaurants would be a pain.

So, Poly people is this a negative of the Poly or does it make the Poly more attractive to you?

One of the reasons I like the Poly is that the buildings are spread out. You don't have to trek through a busy lobby in your bathing suit to get to the pool. You also do not have to take an elevator to get to your room on the 7th floor either. It is so relaxing. I alos agree with tinkerbella22, I hated to leave. I also hated the bill, since it is pricey (but I still think it is worth it). Jay

Hi all,
The separate buildings are not an issue to me one way or the other. I like the small feel of the resort. The feel is very calming, small, relaxing. I just can't explain it. As soon as you enter the lobby it is soothing. Not at all hustle bustle. After the parks, I relish that. It doesn't feel like a hotel, because of the small separate buildings. I can not explain it......but if you ever go .....you'll know. Hope you all have magical stays in whatever resort yu choose!!

I do not like the multiple buildings. I like one building, up & down, hotel style.

We stayed in Concierge right before they closed it for rehab so maybe that was one problem. (Actually Jan of 03)
First problem was the concierge staff, the one guy was playing a video game or something with his computer and wouldnt look up at us till he was done. Then he was just not friendly at all!!!!
The bld was dark and had a bad smell. the lounge was nice and had a beautiful view.

I like the seperate buildings I think it's quieter than 1 large bussling hotel but I stay concierge so I don't need to be running to the store or snack bar and I've never been to the Poly in the rain.

I wish the sinks were seperate from the potty. But not enough of a problem to get me to stay elsewhere.

Used to love the Poly, stayed at least twice. It was the ONLY place we wanted to stay. Tried to book it is several times and couldn't get in so tried the YC/BC, and others.

When we finally booked Poly again. The feeling was all WRONG, just seemed phony and weird. CM's not genuine...just faked.?!

The kids said everyday of the stay"we want to go back to BC/YC"

Captain Cooks isn't very good. :p I wish they had their own busses instead of sharing with CR. I didn't mind the separate buildings except when it rains.

What I hate is not being there enough! I stay at the Poly 25-30 days a year and still wish it were more. It it the best resort in WDW.

We found the Cm's (especially in Concierge) rude, especially this one guy. There where 2 very sweet ladies though. I know that they can NOT control all of their CM's, but I just had to say that.

We didn't like how dirty the rooms where. Rustic or South Pacific theme - Dirt is Dirt, Mold is Mold. It's not that we expected spotless, but when there is a glob of something in the middle of the vanity, mold in the bathroom, dust on the lamps, entertainment center and NASTY stains on the comforters. YUK!

Mousekeeping was very lazy. She didn't pick up anything other than towels. We had to take our own trash out. So I would have to say they are at the least not consistant.

Capt. Cooks was so, so. Food was cold, fries oily and soda was flat.

We LOVE the location, OUTSIDE atmosphere and views.

Wendi

Why didn't I like the Poly Resort?

I went back in 1987 or so. I thought it was dated and not that great. I liked the monorail and the grounds, but just not the rooms or the hallways.

My husband had never stayed there, so 2 years ago I made a reservation following our VWL vacation. I thought things would have improved, but they had not. The rooms were still sparse and dated. We had a courtyard view, which was pretty yucky. It looked out onto a maintainence building (I think that is what it was). It could be because we had just left VWL where the rooms are heavily themed, but Poly was just a large, bland, non-discript room to us.

We always visit the Poly when we visit the world. We always go to Ohana and then enjoy the fireworks on the beach. We love visiting there!

We went in May 98 and thought it was too far of a ride to anywhere but MK. We lived in so cal, right by Disneyland, so we did not want to spend a ton of time at MK but with our 2 year old it was just to much of a hassle to go anywhere else. We had to walk to the TTC to get buses
(since then this has changed). We also were in concierge and just did not find them helpful at all, and we did not think the lounge was worth the extra money. I love Hawaii but we just felt like we were on a movie set with a hawaiian theme, like the episodes of the Brady Bunch in Hawaii. Granted, we did not go wanting to feel like we were really in Hawaii, but the resort just felt dated and older. We did love Ohanas! We have since stayed at the BC and love it! Love the location, and the themeing. To each his own, but we prefer to be closer to Epcot.
