Why didn't Tinker Bell fly tonight during Wishes?

I got this one. As a father who has had to watch that dang movie way to many times with my 7 year old in the last year.

Tink is not a winter fairy she is a summer fairy. If she were to go out into the cold her wings would have froze. They really should have had Periwinkle fly though as she can handle the cold!!!!!! Lord Milori could have also jumped on his owl and swooped down over the dessert party also as that would have been pretty dang cool.

Dang I know to much about this crap "WHY COULDN'T I HAVE HAD AT LEAST ONE BOY"

First, I love this post! You totally cracked me up!! And I very much needed that this morning.

I think I've only seen Tink fly twice out of several trips over the years. It is disappointing. We went to Disneyland last June. I have to say their fireworks are so much better! We saw Tink fly every night. And not just in a straight line! She flies back and forth and waves to the crowd. There is also a Dumbo puppet that flies. Now I know that the DL castle is much shorter, so maybe that has something to do with it. I was blown away, tho.

Foot of snow thats nothing it was -20 without wind chill here this AM. Oh I can't wait for Florida weather and the next Disney trip in 10 days. Hopefully it will be warmer but even if it just above freezing its 50 degrees above what I have dealt with this week (-60 with windchill). Dallas last weekend was great even though it was still cold by their standards so Orlando should be sublime and hopefully Tink flies over us at the Dessert party on the 24th.

Regarding BAB ... Pinky Pie was rereleased around Thanksgiving. I just had an email about getting all four of them ...

On to Tink ... we were there 1/2 for my dd's birthday. We're local, and it was the first time I've seen Tink fly, ever. Maybe we just don't have luck, but we've honestly never seen her. I was shocked she flew that night because it was rainy and miserable most of the day. I'm assuming the cold had something to do with it for her not to fly. I'm not a pixie, and I don't want to go out in this weather.

My daughter worked in the College Program at WDW. She's about 4' 11" and weighs around 100lbs. She's very thin and fit.

She went to casting to see if she could be Tink as she wanted to fly from the castle. They told her she was "too chubby"!!! (You can only imagine getting THAT phone call from your child!) They told her she needed to be 80 pounds!

My daughter worked in the College Program at WDW. She's about 4' 11" and weighs around 100lbs. She's very thin and fit.

She went to casting to see if she could be Tink as she wanted to fly from the castle. They told her she was "too chubby"!!! (You can only imagine getting THAT phone call from your child!) They told her she needed to be 80 pounds!

I did research on some other threads and CMs said flying Tink can be up to 120 pounds. For someone in the 4'11-5'1" range, that isn't a low weight; and about what I was thinking when I made the post. I'd expect most to be 100-110 pounds, so they'd have a few pounds to play with at weigh-in.

I would imagine meet & greet tink probably needs to lighter. But 80 pounds? That's really underweight for 4'11". That's shocking. None of the Tink's I've seen on youtube look like they weigh 80. More like 100 (a pretty normal weight for a young 20s, short girl).

That's just crazy! My son is a "fit" 4th grader and weighs 80 pounds! That's just sad and scary. I hope she had the common sense to ignore it and not internalize it!
My daughter loved the fairies the last time we were there and we saw all of them at pixie hallow. There is no way any of those girls were under 100 pounds. They weren't fliers but while they were all petite they were all healthy looking. If they put a 80 pound adult out as a meet and greet character there would be a back lash from parents whose daughters desire to emulate them. I would be heart broken if Tink looked emaciated When my daughter went to hug her. Sad sorry for your daughter but perhaps safer not to be under unrealistic weight pressure all the time.

I've also heard that she has to get weighed each time and if she is over a limit she can't fly. I don't know how true that one is.

That is true also. A friend of mine is friends with someone who was "friends with Tink".....

I couldn't believe it either! I explained to my daughter she had no where to lose weight on her body! Fortunately, we can laugh about it now but it was very hard for her that day!

Guess we have been very fortunate - have gone many, many times and yearly or more often the last 10 years and we've never missed seeing Tink fly. It's always a highlight of the evening.

On the KTTK tour, our guide told us Tinker Bell has the final say on if she makes the trip or not. Weight, wind and weather are the primary factors.
