Why didn't anyone tell me how expensive UGG boots are???

My feet stopped growing 25 years ago, so I don't need to worry about it, but I have a pair of Uggs older than my kids that I still wear. For $150 you get - or at least I got - a very well made boot. (I didn't buy them, my mother gave them to me).

I don't doubt that you have an old pair of Australian UGGs that have held up very nicely. However, since 2004, UGG boots have been made in China and are not made with the same quality as the original boots. The price is still high but the quality is not nearly as good as it used to be.

I don't know-DD just pulled out her Uggs this week. This will be the third winter for her classics and the second for her cardys and both honestly look brand new. That said, I wouldn't by them for a child with growing feet unless I lived in a very cold area where good warm boots are a necessity. DD wore hers out to the movies tonight with shorts!- warm boots are not a necessity here.

My DD's feet grow SUPER SLOW - she should get two winters out of her UGGS (got her fist pair last month).

DD and I both have the Kirkland (Costco) versions. Hers were less than $20 and mine were $37. So far I absolutely love how warm and cozy they are. Honestly, as popular as Uggs have been in the last few years, they will start going out of style soon, so I'd just buy some similar non-Uggs and call it good.

Exactly. My friend made a call to Uggs to complain about the wear, her daughters formed a hole at the toe. She was told they aren't meant to be worn in inclimate weather!!! The boots were designed for surfers coming out of the water to keep their feet warm. Buyer beware.

My kids have Bearpaws, which we got at Marshalls and Supershoes for $39. They are made out of leather and sheepskin lined.

DD13 is on her second season of wearing them 3-5x per week and they are in great shape. This is the first season DD10 has them. Last year she had the Target version, which were even cheaper, but not as nice, but they held up fine for boots she'd only be able to wear for one winter.

I bought myself a pair (the real deal) a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE them! I wear a ladies 6, but I could probably buy a kids size. What size would equal a ladies size 6?

I bought those Costco uggs for $37 after reading about them on this board, and I love them! They are super comfy and feel great! I've been outside in cold weather for extended periods and my feet are great. Even when I'm inside, my feet don't overheat. These are new favorite shoes/boots to wear now!

Keep your money in your wallet! No need to spend big bucks for real thing when there are so many comparable off-brands out there.

My DD11 still has growing feet so I bought her a pair of 'look alike' Uggs from Target. She loves them and so does my wallet. I have a pair of UGG sneakers I bought for myself that I love.

Snow River sells Ugg boots and today is the last day of $20 off and free shipping. I've bought from them before, great customer service. It is $20.00 off the classic short and the bailey (bought these last year, love them) the discount code is shortstuff.

Crap, I was just about ready to get on the UGG train. Now I won't. I try not to support China for my luxuries. I used to want to stand on principle and buy nothing from China but that is not an option anymore.:sad1:

Koolaburra makes boots similar to Uggs, and they are made in Australia. They look quite nice--my Marshalls has some. They run around $80 at Marshalls.

so if you got "UGG" style boots for your kid where did you get them ( old navy online was out of her size).
I am thinking I will check out Target and Old Navy in person too.

My DD 14 chose a pair of Airwalks brand ones at Payless. They were $35 but I bought shoes for my son at the same time, and got his half price because of their buy one get one for half price sale.

My DD's game from Kohl's, but I also like the target ones. I will not do the real UGG's until their feet stop growing. I just can't spend that much money on something that won't fit in a season.

I will add that I have two pair and am getting slippers for Christmas, but I will add that my feet have stopped growing......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My daughter has a pair of Bear Paws and they are SO comfy! She wore them last winter and pulled them out last week and they still look like new. She wants a black pair, so this morning I ordered a pair from Old Navy. With the MONDAY30 code for today they were only $10!

I bought DD 2 pairs of shoes at Justice and wanted to warn you all, they fell apart after a couple of wears. I refuse to spend another dime on any shoes at Justice. Even my DD10 says never shoes from Justice!

I got my knockoffs at Walmart for $5 on the clearance rack a couple of weeks ago. Even if they only hold up for a couple of months, I will call it good. They are super warm and very comfy, and I don't care if they have the Ugg name on them or not.

Like Coach purses. Alas.....

They don't even make anything similar to the style I have nowadays. Mine are hard leather, ankle high, and just about perfect for a Minnesota winter.
