Why did you choose your home resort

When we bought in the only place available (in the WDW area) was VWL, we were staying with friends @ BWV and LOVED being in the middle of everything. We vacationed in Disney every other year (staying @ All Stars).

I was disappointed that VWL was all that was available but to be honest we haven't stayed there once yet. Dh says he never wants to stay there. I'll get him to change his mind, I loved stay in the Lodge.

Anyway, we ended up doing a small add on @ BCV and that took care of the location thing! I've learned you either plan well in advance or don't be fussy about where you want to stay!

DH would love to get his hands on a small OKW resale but I don't need my dues any higher!

Welcome Home...You won't be disappointed!

When we first were thinking about DVC, only BWV and OKW were available. I could have been happy with either resort as my home resort due to our vacation planning habits. I know when my time off is going to be so we are able to book at the 11 month window. My DH was leaning towards BWV but when I read to him the description about OKW from the "Walt Disney World for Couples" he was happy to purchase a 150 point contract at OKW. The fact that it was $58 a point and all points for the previous year were available helped to sweeten the pot! We have stayed there 2 times in a 1 bedroom and loved it! We have since purchased a 100 point contract at BVC so we can book at the 11 month window mostly for the F&W festival and Christmas New Year's Week. To us home resort is important for the 11 month window when needed, but if we requested one resort and it wasn't available, any of the DVC resorts would be great!

'99 was the year my DH suggested a DVC purchase. We had fallen in love with the WL after several Dec visits so we scheduled a June '00 trip. They were working on the WLV's at the time and I was convinced thats where we would buy in. However, after 8 days at the lodge we decided to tour the BWV's. Love at first sight!!!

Although we enjoy the WL at Christmas we had decided after 8 days in June the WL would not be where we would want during the summer. So we left the BW that day with "the most expensive canvas bag Disney offer".(As our driver put it)

Since our purchase we have stayed every Dec at the BWV's and have loved it!!

My hope is to purchase enough points at VB to get a Beach Cottage every summer for 5 nights. Oh to dream...........

We chose OKW as our home resort because at the time we bought it was a resale which also included tickets to the parks. We bought even without visiting the resort. When we made our first trip to okw we were impressed. We were able to park right outside our building (great). We had 2br,full kitchen,2baths,living area with room to roam, washer and dryer, patio with beautiful view. There were 6 of us in our family, now 7 since our son married, ideally we needed room. OKW is a great place with a relaxing atmosphere.Love the pool area with the lighthouse in the background. Although we stayed at BCVwe like walking all around the resorts here)and soon will stay at WLV(to be close to MK)can't wait to return to OKW for our Welcome Home greeting.IMHO all DVC resorts are super, just for different reasons. I'm glad we bought, more or less for the extra room.We have gone from off-site,to on-site,to where we're at now,DVC owners with no regrets(except maybe wishing we could go more often).

Location, location, location! We love Epcot and the location of BCV. When we heard that they were building BCV, we knew this was where we wanted to buy. Soon we'll see our new home for the first time. Yippee!

OKW - it was the only one available at the time.

SSR - not connected to an existing hotel.

We choose BWV for a couple of reasons; it’s close to our favorite park - Epcot, the selection of restaurants, and the potential to get a Grand Villa. Every other year we plan to bring our families with us, so a GV would be a great option if available, and since we’ll have both grandparents along we’ll have plenty of eager babysitters to allow us a night out together at the BW or Epcot restaurants.

We chose VWL for the theme, and detailed theming.
We also own points at VB because my wife enjoys the beach. I am very, very happy I let her talk me into VB. We love it!

I had visited friends in '97 when they were staying at an OKW Grand Villa. The accommodations were impressive. At the time I was mildly interested, but didn't think that WDW would be an annual destination for me. I was wrong on that one!

I had flirted over the years with the idea of DVC. Had done some research and visited several resorts. It was apparent that I really loved the Epcot Resort area. I have stayed at YC/BC and finally at the BWI several times over the years. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the BW the most. For me (IMO) the Beach Club was geared for younger families. The Boardwalk area seems to me to have a broader mix of people visiting. I do love the idea that I can walk to two parks and also have many dining options. Part of the vacation for me has become not having to drive myself any where. Since Epcot is my favorite park, BWV was a good fit for me. Busses are available to the other parks. Taxis to other destinations not serviced by busses are available. If down the line I do decide to rent a car again, free valet parking is available. So that is why I finally came to my senses and purchased a resale at BWV last year!:)

We love Disney, and after learning about DVC we thought it was a great idea. SSR was available at that time, so we bought.

We did do a little research and asked questions here. We got all the advice about buying where you want to stay (which is good advice), and decided we were fine with SSR.

We just got back from a week at SSR (May 17-22) and I must say we are pleased. We dont mind the location, and thought it was a bonus to be so close to DD. The parks were not a hassle at all to get to (we rented a car) and we would not do anything differently.

We could not be more happy with our decision. We do intend to try all the DVC resorts - but are happy to call SSR our home!

We originally bought at the BWV as it was the only WDW property DVC resort available at the time. We have since added on twice at the BWV and once at the BCV. We were fairly uneducated at the time and didn't know about resales as we love OKW, but have grown to love the BWV even more. We have owned at the BCV for a couple of years but our first trip there will be in December.

We wanted to be on WDW property, so when SSR became available, we just bought, site unseen, and now that we`ve been so lucky to actually see some photos, from recent posts: we`re soooo happy we did!!!!::yes::
