why did they give free dining??also 2007 dining

1.) Free dining was most likely offered because attendance was expected to be very low during this time of year . . . right around the time Katrina hit last year and two years after Florida got hit with four major storms in a row. they hoped (and it looked like they were right) that a major discount/freebie would re-boost park attendance.

2.) Many restaurants that are missing are not actually owned by Walt Disney. At the time the brochure was printed it was unknown that they would agree to be included in the dining plan again as they can renegotiate on a yearly basis. Since the brochure was printed, many of the DTD and Epcot restaurants are rumored to be back on, but this info has just been trickling in over the past couple of days and nothing is in writing yet.

Hope that helps. :)

Actually, from what I've read, it seems that the contracts are longer than one year, but are indeed coming due for renewal at the end of this year.
