I was trying to respond. :surfweb:

Did you not read my response???? It gets old real fast when the bickering starts...... and it had started!
There is no room for sarcasm or for going after others just because they don't agree with you. And no...I don't mean 'you' personally...I mean it in the most general sense.

Ah, yes, modern English and the lack of an impersonal vs personal 'you'. The lack of a second person singular pronoun makes things truly confusing. Had we been conversing in German or French this would have been far more clear.

Did you mean me? ;)
I think that Mom may have been referring to you and me... or at least I took it that way :rolleyes1

But I did offer her some chocolate and I believe that we are all good now! :)

I just got home and just saw the thread. We had an incident on Tuesday night at BWV, going to MNSSHP. We got to the bus stop and the shelter was full. An MK bus finally came and everyone piled on. We decided to wait for the next one since there were already standees. Waited probably 15 or 20 min, another one came, we were close to the front of the line. A wheelchair was loaded in the back. After they were loaded, the door was still open so the people in the back of the line piled on through the back door. The driver took awhile to get back to the front to open the front door, meanwhile people poured in the back door, leaving those of us who were waiting the longest standing on the curb.

Don't you just love some people! :sad2:

No, it was not you two...man, some people think it's always about 'them'!!! :rotfl2:
But, keep those chocolate offers coming. I can be bought.
No problem if that subject gets reopened, but you are going to have to do it nicely. You guys start getting personal again, and I'll shut it down again. (as she laughs fiendishly..enjoying the huge power she holds....NOT).

There was a bus thread, and I missed it!

My view has always been that if you know you will need to sit on the busses, that for whatever reason you couldn't possibly stand, then you need to be proactive and take care of yourself. Either rent a car for the trip, or keep some extra $$ in your pocket so you can grab a taxi if the busses are crowded.

I agree that it would be nice if when you hopped on the bus someone could see you were in need and would offer you a seat. But it is not guaranteed to happen, and if it a matter of your health and well being, I wouldn't think to leave it to chance.

Also, there are some who seem to forget that the person giving them their seat is being nice, and are not grateful for the seat. They just take it as their due, and forget they are actually being shown a kindness. And yes, I include some parents in that. I don't think being a parent entitles someone to get on a bus, and then judge which adult should have to get up and give them their seat. You have no idea why a particular person is not offering up their seat, so giving them dirty looks, or trying to shame them into getting up only reflects bad on you. We should all offer kindness when we can, but we should not go about demanding things from other people.

However, if you swing a chocolate bar in front of me, I will become your new best friend.;)

Why is there fiendish laughter coming form my computer?

I think I'll just take a new stance on seats on buses, just like I'll take a picture of anyone I want to why at WDW. If I get a seat on a bus, no, you should not expect me to give it to you. There, now I cant be asked why I gave it up for them, but not for them. Dont ask me to get up, dont give me dirty looks (well if you must, that's fine, but you'll just get mad when I give you a big toothy grin). I think more people should take this stance. Too many people feel entitled to stuff, sorry, you arent. Hate me if you want, call me insensative, fine, I really... Dont.... Care.... :thumbsup2

edit: there I even changed my sig to show my new thoughts :)

I hate when my child gets up and offers his seat to a woman standing next to him (yes, I'm proud;) ) and then she says thank you and gives it to her child/grandchild who is old enough to stand.:sad2:

i jsut go on every bus assuming i will stand and then when i get to sit, i feel like i got pixie dust.

That's a tough one isn't it? I've had the same thing happen when my DS has given up his seat... makes you wonder...

We also either stood, or waited for the next bus depending on how we felt - a couple of times someone gave up their seat for me (I had one horrific swollen ankle) BUT I always offered it to DD first - and tried to say it so the person understood "DD how's your sugar levels? do you need to sit?" and she always needed to sit -

so if you were in the World last week, and at Pop, know you were doing a service giving your seat up for DD - and I thank you!

Us too - my dd's are now 13 and 11 so they can stand as can I.

I ask them in advance if they can stand, if we need to wait for a second bus or if we need a cab. I always budget money for a few cab rides - mostly for resort to resort transportation or the occasional very late night. The kids are great and we have only hailed a cab a few times over the past several years when we were all beat :)

When a bus is crowded the three of us will share one 2 seater bench and we have all stood to give someone a seat at one time or another. If we have waited for a second bus and are sharing a seat we usually keep it but there have been some situations when we all agreed it was better to give up our seat.

Yes - I was on a bus with an older women with a hip problem from CBR to Epcot, we got to talking in line. We boarded and she sat in an asile seat in the back row and I stood next to her so we could continue talking.

A women with a baby boarded and the women I had just met got up so the women and the baby could sit. At the same time someone closer to the women with the baby got up as well and the women with the baby took that seat.

Well, while my "new friend" with the bad hip was standing to offer her seat to the mom an older teen male 17 to 20ish literally pushed behind us and sat in her seat!!! We couldn't beleive it - my new friend said "excuse me I didn't offer my seat to you did I? at which point he pouted and swore but did get up. She sat back down and we continued our conversation - but got a kick out of the situation, as did many of the others around us. It was so unreal -

I just got back from WDW and bus seating was never a problem (even with a baby to hold) because I drove my car everywhere. I also drank hot chocolate from my refillable mug and ate Aero bars on every leg. You (as in "y'all", formal plural impersonal) are looking at one happy camper here!

Wow! My DS is a type 1 too. Cozmore pumper. ;)

We just got back from WDW also. All in all the bus service was OK, but there was a time or 2 we waited a long time for a bus, then felt we had to get on standing or not because we didn't know when the next one would arrive.

We were staying at the BCV and waited forever for an AK bus. Of course it was beyond full when everyone got on. I put DD (5) on my lap so a mom with a small child could sit. I really don't see the big deal. DD sat on my lap for what 15-20 miinutes and the mom and little one got to sit also. Everyone was happy!
