Why did my FP's get changed?

I just got an email that my 9:20am FP for Kali (during Spring Break!) was moved to 1:45pm.

This doesn't fit into my day/plan at all and basically makes the FP completely unusable to me.

Why do they do this and what can I do as a work-around?

OP, can you move it back? If you can't I would call and tell them you need an any time FP for it.

No, The only available time to move it to are even later than that. Why would they do this? Do they overbook FP's?

I would call and find out what's up. Seems strange. They do this sometimes when an attraction is going to have shorter hours that day, but I can't see that happening during spring break. But if the ride is up and running, I'd certainly raise a stink and get it restored or swapped to an any time FP.

What date is this for (asking because where I am, spring break is in April but I know it's not the same everywhere or for grade school vs college)?

Kali is currently closed for refurbishment and the expected reopening date is March 22. Perhaps they ran into an issue with that and/or anticipate some kind of maintenance/ testing/ inspection during the morning on the day you're planning to go?

Can you swap the FP out for something else entirely that might be more useful?

My guess is still something maintenance related (or less likely, an event), but I always say "it's free to call," (or e-mail/ chat) and see if they can give a better explanation or an anytime FP. If the ride will definitely be closed in the morning (which means an anytime FP is helpful but still may not solve the issue entirely), then you may have to see about rearranging your plan a little. This has happened to me and it's a nuisance but if it's the only request (and the ride will be open) it might be worth seeing if anything in the plan can budge to make it work.

Thanks. Ok, that’s why. That ride is showing as opening at 10am for your date. Disney has been doing some post-opening and pre-closing operating times for a few AKL attractions lately (which is a whole other topic altogether). My guess is they just loaded that 10am opening into their system and it punted your FP+. I’d e-mail or call guest services and explain how it has messed up your plans and see if they can shift it to 10-11am.

If you have the ability to hit it at 10am when it opens, I suspect you won’t find much of a wait in that first 30ish mins.

Sorry this is happening to you at a somewhat late point in your planning.

They did the same for us for April 10th...we originally had 7pm-7:30pm...it was moved to 4p-5p (already had 5-6 Dinosaur and 6-7 FOP...so I shuffled some things around and moved it to 5-6p and moved Dinosaur to 7-7:30 (we are the water park that day so this sort of works out perfectly...lol)...

Seems that your FP was moved to the later time due to the ride not opening until 10 AM that day, and they must have had the 1:45 slot as the next available time for your party size.

Here's what I would do:
1. Try getting FP for part of your party at a time in overlapping windows. For example, if you can get a 10:30-11:30 for 2 people, and an 11-11:00 for 2 more people (or however you need to split the group) you can all ride around 11 together. They may not have an 11 AM for a party of 4 but they may have that overlapping window for smaller groups.

2. If that doesn't work (either there isn't a time available or that really isn't going to work with your plans for the day), call and see if they can give you an anytime FP for that attraction or get you a FP at a time that does work.

3. If neither of those things work, be at the ride when it opens at 10 AM and you shouldn't have too long of a wait.

I appreciate everyone's suggestions and it does seem like alot of switching around to accomplish... I already had things at 10:20 and 11:20 so it's tough. I'm going to put a non-headliner into the early morning slot and try to hit Kali at 10a on the dot. My goal is to be out of the park before 12n and back at the hotel pool to avoid heat/crowds. Fingers crossed...
