I'm days away from turning 45. I could have swarn back in my early days (teen years and before) the hotels around DL also had shuttle service to Knotts Berry Farm. I can't be the only one that remembers that. I don't remember when it stopped, but why did it? Does anyone know?

I don't honestly know about the hotels offering shuttles to Knott's, but I know that the Knott's hotel offers a shuttle to Disneyland. There are possibly other hotels in the greater DLR vicinity that have shuttles to Knott's, but it's more likely you'd need to take a bus or ride share. As I said, I don't really know.

But things have changed drastically in 30 years. The Disneyland you grew up with is not the Disneyland of today. The main entrance was on Katella and DCA was a parking lot when you were a kid.

Several hotels used to have a shuttle to Knotts and that went away about the same time as the shuttles to Disneyland did. We used to always stay at Howard Johnsons because they had a shuttle to the parks. We haven't been back there since it went away. Not sure how they didn't get grandfathered in or maybe they chose not to but was a lame choice if they chose not to.

Forgot to say above that it doesn't appear that the motels/hotels nearest Disneyland have much to gain from offering shuttles to Knotts as they have been booking up without the extra cost of a free shuttle. I don't know if that will remain true or not.

Knotts Hotel has a shuttle to Disneyland, not vice versa.
Do you know if you have to be a Knotts hotel guest to use it? Could I use it to get to Knotts from Disneyland to visit that park?

I'm local so have never stayed there. I would assume it is for hotel guests only.

This is what I was trying to say in my post above. You can go back to Knotts on the shuttle, but only if you're a guest there and the shuttle originates at the hotel.

Yes, you have to be a guest. It's a return shuttle to the hotel.

Thats a bummer, was going to use it to go to the Knotts restaurant and back.

I miss the day of the shuttles!!! We use to take the shuttle (a nice bus) to Sea World! If they still had that I might be able to convince my wife that Anaheim has it all lol.

I think it was after California Adventure opened Anaheim came up with ART Anaheim Regional Transportation service to stop individual hotel shuttles, which can be a confusing mess especially post pandemic-

I assume Knott's Berry Farm can still use their own since it's city of Buena Park nearby

The shuttle couldn't compete against the 460 bus route.

But that operates maybe every 40 minutes tops, and doesn't get that close to Knott's. But I've taken it before where it filled in the gaps that ART didn't cover. And I could get real time bus information on Apple Maps with very accurate times when I had to be at the bus top.

I was using ART a bunch of times to get to/from Knott's. I think it's almost exclusively on-demand to Buena Park, with all scheduled service discontinued. However, I'm not sure what the service is like now. I can play around with the A-Way WeGo app and plan rides, but right now I'm not seeing anything to Knott's Berry Farm or their hotel. Could be the peak times. A couple of years ago we were staying in one of the hotels there as well as getting to Porto's in Buena Park from the Anaheim train station. But I'm not sure if they've discontinued some stops. I still see the sign in these Google Street View images.

I’m close to you in age and don’t ever recall local DL hotels offering transportation to Knott’s. There was a shuttle to Universal that stopped at multiple hotels, but it was not offered by the hotels themselves. Nor was it free but may have included with admission at one time (not latter years).

20 years ago nearly every hotel had a shuttle to DL but only a few remain. I guess that’s what Anaheim kinda wanted with the ART although the busses are ridiculously deserted (maybe sans opening and closing) these days. Probably why they’re moving to an on demand system.

Most of the Anaheim area has been cleaned up and gentrified in the last two decades and walking is a pleasant option. I even walked to the DoubleTree Orange not long ago - they’ve really cleaned Manchester up, although it gets seedy for a bit.

Doesn't the 460 stop at La Palma & Beach?

Yes. But then there’s the walk in. When I took ART I think their stop was at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel. At least once a driver let me off a bit earlier near the entrance. But I never went inside. It was close to my hotel or I was near there and that was the closest ART stop.

As far as I can tell ATN (I guess they're ditched the ART name but not with their website name) no longer serves Buena Park. They no longer list any service to Buena Park or Knott's Berry Farm. I played around with their app and can't find any service to Knott's Berry Farm or Medieval Times.

I get it. They likely didn't have much traffic there and whenever they picked up or dropped off someone there, it would be at most a small group. I suppose if I'm back there, it will probably mean using the Metro 460 bus, even though it has relatively low service frequency.
