Why Can't husbands and children understand that there is a difference between straightening up and cleaning.

And there is a definite difference between clean and MIL ready clean:mad::headache::mad::furious::furious: :furious:

OK, vent over. Now I'm back to cleaning

I have that same family! I get all upset because the house is a disaster, and DH says, "there are just a few things lying around." AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!! I understand exactly what you're saying, too, about clean and MIL clean.:thumbsup2

oh.... and I'm fixing to start my cleaning, too. My house has still not recovered from the 6 weeks after my surgery (now 9 weeks ago) when I was not supposed to do any of that stuff. I've finally gotten it back to the point where it won't be condemned by the health dept, but it still has a long way to go. Doesn't help that everyone else in this house is ok with living in their own filth. :scared:

I have been trying to explain this to DH for over 20 years--he is a smart man, really he is but I just don't think they have the right chromosomes to understand the concept. DD understands but not DH and the boys.

I have two teenaged daughters. But they take after their father! Glad you were able to get your DD to understand. One person on your side probably helps a lot!

I tell my dh to actually clean you have to involve cleaners.

One time we were doing an emergency "company clean" and I asked my dh to help. For 20 minutes he cleaned......the smoke detector. :confused3 What is it with male DNA???

Actually, my DH is sometimes more thorough than I am and I'm a neat freak.

That's awesome ... my dad's does a great job helping my mom getting ready for company ... he vacumms out the fireplace!

same problem here My kids are always complaining that all they do is clean. NOT. I constantly ask them to pick up their stuff. I can not count the number of times they have been told if they would just put their stuff away when they were done with it they wouldn't have to "clean". DD10 is having a sleep over with 9 friends tonight and we have all been picking up most of the moring.

And this is how I feel when someone thinks something is "clean" when its clearly not! Takes me about 5 hrs to clean the house. You can't tell me its clean when it took you 1. :rotfl: Why do women have a different idea of clean than men or teenagers/kids:confused:

If anyone can figure out why women have the ideas they have that person will be a millionaire.

PS - I clean much better than my DW!

Sorry, but my DH cleans much better than I do. He vacuums at least once a week, usually twice,. He cleans the toilets 2 or 3 times a week. He wipes off all the counters, he cleans the bathroom mirrors. He wet swiffers all the hard surface flooring once a week.

It's not a contest at our house, everyone does something better than the other person. It all makes for a very happy home.

You lucky dog!

There's clean, MIL clean, and inspection clean!

DH keeps the house clean(kids get to help!)
I get to deal with inspection clean at work! that is a new level of clean!
we are talking white glove on top of the door frames and light fixtures!:confused3

that is a big task that takes quite a few people to accomplish- and that is making sure that they are doing what they are told to- just like having to supervise your kids cleaning- lol but having someone come and inspect and if it is not up to their standard, doing it all over again!

This is a sore subject at my house. I swear my kids and dh don't know how to pick anything up. clothes never make the laundry basket. dishes go in the sink, not the dishwasher. Last night I told my ds8 to put his bowl in the dishwasher and his response...."dishwasher, why do we have to keep putting everything in there?" We moved in May, my dh has these boxes sent up to the master bedroom which clearly should of gone to the basement. He wonders how the movers put them there, um maybe because you wrote Mikes' master bedroom..... sometimes I swear...
