Why can't we delete posts anymore?

If I have made a mistake or posted in the wrong place, I always delete the post to keep the board clean. It keeps coming up now that I don't have permission to delete my posts. I can edit and delete down to just a period, but not take the post completely away.

It's a weird thing, technically posters are not supposed to be able to delete posts at ALL but on some boards they have been able to.
