why can't I just buy a Coke?

I'm not a kid. I don't have a kid. I'm 44 years old and I would like to be able to buy myself a bottle of Diet Coke in a theme park.

(Some of the stores and kiosks do still have them but I don't know how long that is going to last.)

You can get Coke from vending machines outside most parks and in the resorts - but it costs $2.50 as opposed to $2 in the park.

Yet another reason to buy my own Coke Zero to take to the parks in my little lime green cooler. :upsidedow

In my own situation the car rental companies may win here, since I'll need to rent a car for at least a day to be able to run over to Publix and buy some bottles of Diet Coke if I can't get one otherwise.

Don't bother with a car rental. You can get Garden Grocer to deliver to your room.

If this is true, this is beyond irritating! I agree with others who say that when I am on vacation, I indulge a little. I still drink a ton of water there, mainly because I need to stay hydrated in the hot humid Florida weather. But when I want a Coke, I shouldn't need Disney to "police" me on it!

I like that Disney has healthier OPTIONS. But that's what they should be: options among our other usual favorites.

Wow! Who are they trying to make this healthy for? Adults who can make their own decisions and who should be making good choices for their kids or complete idiots who don't know any better and can't make their own choices. Maybe it's a good thing they don't sell Crack in those carts, who knows what parents would feed their children then!
As you can tell I find this kind of stuff pretty frustrating! And yet I can guarantee it's still going to be incredibly difficult to get some white milk for my kids, the one thing they are completely addicted to!

Where's the Chief Magical Officer!??!?! Tell him to fix this, it's ruining our magic!!!!

Me too! I guess that I will be going through more Crystal Light packets, but it just won't be the same without my Diet Coke.

If this is the trend, how long before they take away the soda options from the restaurants?

If that happens, how many of us will resort to "brown bagging" our Diet Cokes, Cokes, etc? :lmao:

Yep, I can see it now. My entire backpack will be filled with a day's worth of Diet Cokes. Yes, it will weigh 10 lbs in the morning. But by the end of the day.....:drinking1

As it is now I take about three six packs of the bottled sodas to avoid the $$$$ at the resorts (plus not being able to find a soda machine at some deluxe properties). If this forces me to now have to resort to carrying a bag again I'll be pissed!

Pepsi, Dt Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Sierra Mist Free :lmao:

You forgot the Dr.Pepper. The only thing that I truly hate about WDW is that they don't sell Dr.Pepper. I guess I'll just bring Koolaid Singles with me to add with the water, and deal with the head ache.

I never noticed that...I guess because I don't drink soda. Now that you mention it though I can see what you mean. It is a lot of water and the powerade drinks or whatever they are called.

Wow that stinks. I would not want to see you without your Diet Coke fix. It could get ugly.

Sounds like you can still get the stuff, just not from a cart. You'll just need to walk into a shop to grab one.

Profit wise, there is more money in bottled water than bottled soda.

Just grab a dole whip!

I am all for advocating for a healthier world with healthier kids. But a one week vacation to Disneyworld is not where people are going to change bad habits. When we go to Disneyworld it is a time where we do not keep track of calories and when we will let our kids have lots of treats. It just gets annoying when you have to share your food because your kids won't eat what is on the kids meals. Now if I want coke with my popcorn I have to stand in two lines. RIDICULOUS!!

Exactly! Who goes to Disney and says to their kids "OK, so today and for the rest of the trip, you're not allowed to have ANY treats. When we get back home, THEN you may have white bread, sugary soda and preservative-filled meat products";) . I don't think a week of eating treats is going to drastically change the eating habits of any particular child.:confused3

I am here now and got popcorn AND a diet coke (in the bottle) at the same cart in MK near the hub.

At AK today I was looking for water and the cart I found only had soda so I had to go to a different cart.

:goodvibes So maybe Coca-Cola was making either a one-time push or quickly decided that it was a failed strategy.

Also, a PP said that a VitaminWater has 50 calories per serving. True, but it's worth noting that each bottle of VitaminWater has 2 1/2 servings so . . . at 125 calories a pop you're really doing the same damage you would with a regular soda.

This has been going on for a few years. On our first trip in 2004, Disney was pushing Coke products like crazy, including the obscure sodas (like Coke 50/50 or whatever it was called)

On our most recent trip in 2007, mostly every stand or cart was pushing water or other beverages. Here's an idea Disney; WHY NOT GET SOME DECENT ICED TEA?!

I just returned from a trip Oct. 4th - 11th and I bought Coke and Coke products from the carts in every single park. We went to every park at least 1 1/2 days and I never had a problem buying a Diet Coke or Sprite from the outside vendors, so I didn't see any phase out in progress. They did have Vitamin Water, regular Dasani water, and Smart Water, but right there by all the coke products too.
