Why can't Disney look up reservations made through travel agents?

I'm going crazy here. I'm pretty sure a travel agent screwed up my package today and I'm not able to find out until MONDAY because Disney can't look it up. I seriously have no idea what to do. That's what I get for trying to get discounts. :sad2:

I may be mistaken, but, I believe that the problem isn't that they can't look it up; it's that the travel agent/travel agency "owns" your reservation, and so Disney can & will only discuss it with your agent, & your agent is to discuss it with you. Not a system that I "love" (seems to be going VERY well for us this year, but made me VERY uncomfortable last year with another agency), but, pretty sure that it's the way Disney does things.

Despite the frustration, try to enjoy the Magic?!?!?

I think it is because the reservation techinically belongs to the TA and all changes must go through the agent.

Yep, and cruise lines are the same - if you book through a TA and want to ask about your res they will tell you to contact your agent (though some will at least give some info if you are having major problems), but if you book directly with their own in-house reservation department they will totally assist you. ;)

I guess they don't want to be put in the middle of a reservation - I imagine that if they did people would probably make all sorts of changes without telling their TA, or blame one or the other on a problem that results. Probably the suppliers think part of the agents commission is handling the booking all the way through...so you just have to hope that you have a great TA helping you (which is kind of like insurance - you don't know what you really have until there's a problem)! :goodvibes

sorry this happened to you. i would try calling disney to try and confirm the information you believe is true. disney might be able to look it up, you just have to find the right agent to do it. they won't be able to make adjustments, but you'll at least (might) be able to get to know what to change on Monday. hope i'm making sense. :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll call Disney again today and try to confirm information, like yage said. I've finally calmed down though, and realize everything is fixable. It will be okay. I just have to breathe :rotfl:
