Why bother buying a ticket...

...to an event, if you are going to just walk around and talk on your cell phone?

We attended the rodeo tonight, and I could not believe the number of people who spent the entire two hours getting up and down and walking around, getting snacks, drinks, and of course, talking on their phones.

I have also seen this same behavior at baseball and hockey games, and even concerts.

Why do these people spend the money on a ticket, if they don't plan to pay one iota of attention to the actual event? They could buy overpriced snacks and talk on their cell phones in front of any convenience store.

And then I wouldn't have to constantly get up and let them back into their seats, or miss part of the show because they walked in front of me AGAIN.

I don't get that either. It's pretty common here though. So is leaving half way through the game/show. :confused3

Probably went to entertain the kids but they weren't really that into it.

They went so they could say to the person who called them (or who they called) that they were at the rodeo.............and it would sound more interesting than "I'm on the computer again".

No, really, I wasn't there!

Nope, the folks last night didn't have kids with them. I thought they were teens, but a few of them purchased beer, so I guess they were a little older. No kids, though.

Have to agree. Definitely.

And I've seen this at the movie theatres. And then they get offended if you tell them to get off the phone, you can't hear.

The was a controversy thread a month or so ago on the Theme board, about people talking on their cell phones while on rides.

:confused3

The movie theaters are the worst!
I just hate it when people sit in the theater and talk on their cell phones-
I mean, atleast if you're going to take the call or whatever, leave the theater to do so- so you don't disrupt others!

You know, there was a program on ABC (few weeks ago) about people that pretend to be talking on their cell phones, in public places, to impress others. :confused3 I really wanted to watch it, but I :cloud9: :cloud9:.

When I used to spend my summers in Brazil, there was a rodeo every year during the city's b-day celebration. I went every year and never saw a horse or a bull. I would walk around with my friends, meet up with my bf (at the time) and just walk around the booths and eat at the restaurant stands. Those were good times :)
