Why B2B?

May I ask why people do back to back cruises rather than one longer cruise? Is it because of the destinations? Is it a better deal sometimes? I have seen it referred to often on this board so I am wondering what I might be missing! Thanks!

In February 2016 we are saving approximately $2,000 in total (3 of us) by doing a 4 night/3 night B2B Bahamas Cruise instead of a 7 night Eastern Carribean Cruise.

Pros: $s saved and two stops at Castaway Cay
Cons: only ports are Castaway Cay (twice) and Nassau; also hassle of disembark and reembark at Castaway after first cruise.

We have sailed 6 times with Disney and this is our first B2B. We are giving it a shot to save the $s this time.

The answer will be different for everyone. We did a 5 night western that included Cozumel and Grand Cayman followed by a 4 night that included castaway cay, Nassau and key west. This 9 night plan was cheaper and better than a 7 night. We kept the same room and same servers so it just felt like 1 cruise. I wouldn't do a b2b if the ports were the same on both legs.

Both of our B2Bs were done to extend a trip when a longer cruise wasn't available. The first was B2B on the Dream (before the Fantasy came along). It was too far to fly across country for just 4 nights so we added the 3 night afterwards also. The second was the 5-night + 2-night on the Wonder out of San Diego because there are no 7-nights offered on the West Coast and we wanted more time on the ship than just 5 nights.

I'm doing two 7 nights B2B in the Med next summer - I had originally planned on booking the 12 night but wasn't happy with the ports. Three of our four ports are repeated but that doesn't bother us - I know we won't have any problems finding things to see/do and we get an extra two nights for a lot less $!

We too are sailing in Feb 2016 on a 3night/4night B2B for the same reason. Saving money. I think ours is $1600 cheaper. Not too worried about the ports since we have an under 3 who just doesn't need or care about them.

It also allows people to level up their castaway club status (not sure why that is much of a factor but it could be) if they are close.

In my case, we're doing B2B on the Fantasy next month because it was the only way to do a longer cruise and try one of the new ships (if you're going to have to fly across the country to hop on a boat, seven days of relaxation just doesn't cut it)...!

Most cruises on DCL is short cruises so a lot of people do a b2b to have a longer cruise. DCL probably has less than 10 cruises a year that's not a short cruise. Panama Canal. Transatlantic some Europe cruises are decent length cruises.

Thank you everyone! I learned something new. That you can save that much money-I had no idea!

We've only done two. The first one was because the Maiden Voyage of the Dream was way to short so we added a B2B. The last one was only because we wanted to be on the same ship as a cast member who we have grown to love and speak with daily. He is on the Dream and a 5 day is much too short for what we like. With that, we scored being with him for 10 days.

We are doing the same as mom4fun. A total of 9 nights with some of our favourite ports (grand Cayman and Key Wesr) and it is cheaper than a 7 night on the Fanrasy!

We are doing B2B Bahamian cruises on the Magic in March/April. We were originally looking at a 7 night on the Fantasy but the B2B saved us about $1000 plus it means we get 2 stops at Castaway Cay, 2 sea days (no Nassau on the 3-night cruise) and we are another cruise closer to being Platinum. For us, this cruise is all about time on the ship so not having different ports of call doesn't bother us. The only other 'con' I cna think of is that, obviously, the menus will be repeated but we will skip the MDRs on a couple of nights so that won't matter to us anyway.

Are you going to be on our April 3, magic cruise now? I looked at doing a b2b with cruise but decided to do a combo Disney World trip instead.

No,we are on the 27th/31st March cruises. Are you at WDW before or after your cruise? We will be there before the first cruise. If you arrive before we leave, would be good to get together :)
