Just curios, have you had people say this to you about your vacation? How rude... I have only been booked one week and have had 4 people say that to me. unbelievable that we would have to justify going there because our kids are older now.

don't worry at all what others think...if I did that I'd never go anywhere....have a magical vacation...I'm going 2 times this year myself!!!

Yeah, hear it every trip from the evil MIL. She actually tells my kids that it's crazy going there...."you've seen it all." We tried to plan a girl trip with my DD, my mom and I even included the evil MIL. Big fat "no" from her to my DD. This was suppose to be a birthday celebration trip for my DD turning 10.

I've been to WDW 5 times so far and know I've yet to see it all....there is just so much to see and do! AND if you went a few years ago it has changed since you were there...things have been added, updated or taken away...so mind NOT the closed minded people and HAVE A BLAST!!!!! DJ

No worries! I get asked that all the time, but very rarely when I go to Orlando. We're planning a trip next fall for Willamette Valley, Oregon, and I get that question all the time. We honeymooned in Utah in non-skiing season and got the question, too.

FWIW, we go to Oregon for the wine and Utah in non-skiing season to see the red-rock canyons :)

Tell 'em why!

I get the slight head-shake and the "again?" every time. I go to Florida 2-3 times a year to accompany my kids to visit their dad - it just makes sense to take advantage of being there anyway and spend some time at my favorite vacation spot! Interestingly, I also go to Ormond Beach quite often, and never get the reaction I do when I say WDW. I guess sitting on the beach is something these people can wrap their minds around. They even accept that I'll go to the beach alone, but cannot seem to understand Disney solo - they ask if I'll be OK, if I'll be bored, etc. I feel safer and more entertained at WDW than on the beach!

I got that quite a bit...but it was mainly from people who haven't been or just done MK and haven't seen all that WDW has to offer for couples..I had my choice of where to go--I PICKED WDW and couldn't be happier..I am confortable there, there is a LOT to do and see and I can't wait..My kids are 6 and 10 and are happy we are going there...they said they know this way they aren't missing out on anything they haven't already seen (HAHA yah right!!!).

I would just give them a simple, "because I like it there" and leave it at that.... It's your time and money, you should use it in whatever manner makes you happy.

"Because that's where I want to go on my vacation, and it is my vacation." I've had people ask me the same question and I just tell them that that's where I want to go on vacation this year.

If they have to ask then they'd never understand!!

We get asked this all of the time :scratchin I have tried to explain but to nonbelievers magic does not exist!!! pixiedust:

Going back for the second time in one month,

that is down right mean. She might actually like it.

bab31, this is a recurring problem with Disney. People can't understand the attraction - especially if they stayed offsite on their one trip and hated it.

that say since I brought DVC there is not as much comments. since Disney is a timeshare they think I have to return to it.... Yea right! they just don't know what they are missing....

Here is what we get when we announce our annual trip to Walt Disney World: "Why on earth would you go alllllllll that way when Disneyland is only a 2 hour flight away?? You know it's the SAME thing!" And they usually toss in an "AGAIN"??? :sad2:

Uh, NO IT'S NOT THE SAME THING! Disneyland is certainly nice, and close but don't you dare tell me it's the "same thing" as Disney World :rotfl:

I don't care for some of the comments we get, but I do beleive some people are just envious (not sure if I spelled that right). Any how it's our money and our vacation and we love it and if everyone else did we would spend all day waiting in line just to get on space mountain once and leave. I was proud of my son who we kept off school for a trip when his teacher asked him if he was sick of going there, after 3 previous trips and he said no we get to do different things every time we go, and we get to back and do the things we love again. (my hero)!! I for see the future of my son taking his children some day telling tales of our trips from years pass. I just hope his wife is a disney fan and they invite me to go! If your mother in law is that crabby about going to disney, you will have a better time without her!

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who do not, no explanation will do.

Glad to see someone likes to visit this area for its beauty and great wines! I live up in the Pacific Northwest and it is our little secret how beautiful it is! It dosen't rain as much as people think...actually our weather is very mild year round. I often get...."why would you want to live here?" Oh well.

We do get weird looks and more of looks of pitty when we mention we honeymooned at Disney World and got engaged at DisneyLand. I don't care....we have a blast when we go and Disney is a special place for us. Like others have said if they have to ask then they won't understand :3dglasses

I get the why go to WDW? How can you go on holiday on your own, you can't eat at resteraunts on you own anyway!! But you haven't got children so why go there???? Mind you I get even worse one when I get asked why on earth do you want to go to the Society of geneologists to look up parish records of long dead ancesters (its in London, how on earth can I go that far on my own :rotfl2: ).

Greetings! I live right up here in Vancouver, WA! Can you belive how hot our summer has been? During that week of high temp and very humid weather back in July made it feel like florida around here. I figured it was just getting us ready for our upcoming trip :sunny: While I grew up in North Carolina and am used to the humity and heat in the south. However, I do enjoy coming back home up here now and breathing the clear, thinner fresh air. Ahhhhh

You have to believe that your MIL is just ignorant about Disney. When I informed my friends that I would be celebrating my 50th B.D. at WDW I immediately got an "I don't know if we'll be going" from one of my good friend's husband. She had a little talk w/him and I think basically told him that she was going one way or another. Most of my friends have never been, so they don't know what the big deal is. They have been to DLP in CA and figure that WDW is the same. Until you go, you don't have any idea. I've been in awe on both of my previous trips and will continue to be in awe of that Disney magic. If your MIL can't understand all the fuss, that's her loss. Unfortunately, she missed sharing a really magical time w/ her grandchild, just because. I'm sure you had just as good a time w/o grumpy MIL. Ed
