As some of ya'll know, I've been "out" for awhile
due to illness, etc......

Come back to the DIS, get into the swing of things,
and I've notice that there are TWO SwanDolphin info threads!

OK....what gives?

JMHO....glo's been doing the SD thingie almost TWO years
since the HUGE PRICELINE SD thread back in early '99 that
byw caused the boards to crash,,,,it was even BIGGER
than the SD cheerleader thread!

Then, in the fall of '00, glo started her now FAMOUS
SD FAQ and was even the captain of the SD cheerleading team!

Her FAQ is the most thorough found on the internet,
much less the DIS!

Keeping in mind that everyone has their opinion and
without getting into a fight...which is WHAT I don't want.....
what's the deal?
Do ya'll feel that we need TWO FAQ's on the same resort
on the RB?

IMHO

They are really two very different threads. Glo's faq IMO is more of the FAQ with answers in it from S&D management etc.

The other S&D thread is more about sharing tips that posters have discovered on thier own. It also includes alot of information about the Starwood (owners of S&D) programs that I do not think are in Glo's FAQ.

I do see that they both serve a valuable purpose.

Prob 'ly cause some people are just jealous of Glos wealth of knowledge and direct line to the "powers that be" at the SD ;)
JK,-- just kidding

I would personally like to see them be merged into one "mega thread". Trekker pointed out the differences in the threads, but their main topic (the S/D) are the same. df's S/D thread is very informative "just sit down and talk" kind of thing --- it gets pretty interesting sitting down and reading. So, I, too, have wondered the need for 2 seperate threads, and have always thought it would make sense to merge into 1. Just my opinion, of course. :)

My humble opinion, for whatever it's not worth, is I like having the two threads.

Glo's is mainly like a "just the facts, Ma'am!" type of informational session.

While the other thread is more of a neighborly backyard "let's talk about what we found at the S/D on our last trip" kind of thread.

Both have oodles of info to share, and are just as invaluable as the other.

Glo's info is exhaustive and fantastic. It gives a nuts and bolts overview of the hotels themselves...but it is from the resort's perspective, which is a great thing. DF99's just gives a different point of view.

Some people read both and appreciate both...some don't. Some like the just the facts of one, and the conversation of the second. One is Filet mignon, the other lobster. Both fabulous and satisfying, but different tastes is all. Some days you want one, some days the other...

I don't really understand why there couldn't be two.
Some people are looking for a little more detailed info about the resort and some people are looking for more personal information. I personally like having the "choice"

I think both threads have great information in them and depending on what you are looking for you have your "choice".

By merging into one thread people would have to sort through numerouse pages to find the information they are looking for.

Oh honestly, who cares? There are many more bigger issues out there.

I asked a question and got some good answers.

:)

dreamflight...why so defensive?
There was nothing threatening about my question.

Bambi--I thought you asked a valid question and got good responses. I don't know why dreamflight took offense.
I don't know if the long threads are problem with bandwith and slow board response time but I figure the webmasters have that under control. I sometimes wonder it would help if someone could "clean up" the long threads (deleting all the bumps and me too type of answers).

I remember when Glo posted her Priceline success at the Swan in early 2000. That encouraged a LOT of people to try Priceline for a 4-star hotel in the WDW area. I didn't get the Swan or Dolphin on Priceline, but instead got the Marriott Orlando World Center at a great price! :)

Glo's Swan/Dolphin FAQ has the answers to most questions the average hotel guest will ever think to ask, and it is fabulous! Thanks, Glo, for all your hard work to keep the FAQ up to date!

The newer Swan/Dolphin thread complements Glo's FAQ and does not compete with it in any way. It is "chatty" - in the same way that the S/D "cheerleader" thread on the CB is chatty! ;) There are lots of little tips on this thread that have been invaluable to a number of people, including me. It has become a little community of friends, just as the S/D cheerleaders have bonded.

Considering the size of the DIS, I think there's plenty of room on the Resorts Board for both types of Swan/Dolphin threads. :)

If we could all just get along???

Know we know everyone here has a stake in S/D...does anyone know if the Club Level at Dolphin has gotten Heavenly Beds yet?

I feel Trekker has responded properly to this already as far as the sights position earlier on this thread. Lets let this go or it may end up as a debate and this would not be the forum for that. :)
Patrick

I have no comment on the FAQ's IMHO to each his own....

Jen80370- Yes, they have the Heavenly beds as they started with the concierge first.

Ya know something, this was off topic from the very git go.

We are not discussing Walt Disney Resorts in this thread, so it is now closed.
