Why are there no scales in hotel baths?

Is the hotel staff afraid people won't eat? Or possibly hurt someone with such a heavy instrument (they can always secure it to the wall or floor).

Does any one know the reasoning behind this?

Because I don't want to think about how much I've gained while on vacation :p

Lol I am with you on this one jenzebelle! They probably figure that if people watched their weight that the enormous amounts spent on dining would go down! Or perhaps they are afraid they will get stolen, the scales that is, lol!

It would probably ruin my vacation if there were scales in my room. They are so evil, you just have to get on them if they are there. Now if they did want to put them in the rooms, they should make them magic scales that weigh you exactly what you want them to. :teeth:

Actually, in some very upscale hotels there ARE scales. :) I have been in hotel rooms with scales. Not that I wanted to step on them. ;)

They might just be afraid people might try to take them.

At WDW I DO NOT want a scale anywhere near me. I just don't want to know how much weight I gain. ;)

Good question, but they probably figure people aren't thinking too much about diet while on vacation. Plus, it is just one more thing to maintain or replace. I would think that any hotel with a gym would have one in there though.

Some people will take anything that is easily portable. Can you imagine the replacement cost?! Besides,if you're on vacation and indulging your inner pig, would you really want to know?

We have stayed at hotels with scales and I always feel like its a mean trick so I hide them in the closet! I'm on vacation, who wants to know.

...........don't take this personal Michelle.;)

I always thought it was because the food on vacation has no calories. So it doesn't matter. Right?? RIGHT?!?!?!?! ;) ;)

LOL, my weight is the last thing (except maybe bills) I want to think about while on vacation. :D

Actually, when we stayed at Portofino a few months ago, there was a scale in the bathroom. Funny thing was, it was between 5 and 10 pounds off (to encourage guests to eat more, maybe?) :)

When we stayed at the Hard Rock HOtel back in 2001, there was a scale in the bathroom. When we were there THIS year, no scale. I asked the bellhop what happened to the scale, and he said they didn't want people to know how much they were eating, LOL!

I don't want to know my weight when I'm on vacation - I'll deal with it when I get home!
