Why are there no crowd calendars for 2017 on easywdw?

Honestly, I doubt it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Disney. I've been going there my whole life...but each year I notice how trying to plan a trip becomes more and more irritating. I mean, I've been enough that if I don't do an attraction or eat at a certain restaurant, my trip will not be ruined. I just love planning, and using a crowd calendar. I plan everything even with every day plans. I guess that's why it irritates me not to be able to plan our trips in advance. As of now though, I've got question marks everywhere in our rough draft, where is usually have a firm time for something. Several adrs even couldn't be made at my 180 just because they have the restaurant closing at 6:00 pm, which is ridiculous.
Which restaurants beside BOG said they are closing at 6?

Practically all restaurants in MK couldn't be booked past 6:00 in June. They had later times in May, but that's why I was wondering if they possibly have an event planed for the first weekend in June at MK. That seems odd to me though, I've never known of them doing anything special in June.

I wonder if the changes in hours are a combination of Disney reacting to their own internal crowds predictions and Disney entertainment being such a work in progress.

This year was not the once and done with minimal tweaking my trip planning used to be. Our party scaled back to just two of us so we ended up booking a few meals we really wanted using the parks already in place for us. We will just play it by ear when we arrive, keeping or canceling ADR's depending on what we find going in.

This is a first for me. I never need to make changes during a trip

I know. I was trying to make a reservation yesterday, my 180, and the latest time I could search for BOG was 6:00pm. In June! It says dinner is from 4-6 :sad2:
I read a few days ago that someone was trying to book ADRs at 180 days out and there were two restaurants that weren't even taking ADRs yet! I know one was H&V, but I can't remember the other. I am fairly certain they even called in and were told to try again in a few days. If the restaurants are not going to be ready to be booked at 180 days, maybe Disney shouldn't open the window then.

I didn't find touring plans very helpful. It made me pick which attractions we wanted, when we were taking breaks, etc. I don't know when we're going to get hungry! lol I much preferred Josh's maps that showed which attractions to hit first thing, which ones would require FP+, etc. I built my own plan off of that. Having only been once, it seemed to me that touring plans required a lot of pre-knowledge about popular rides and such to create a plan, whereas Josh's just guided you through.
You don't have to do all that to get crowd predictions/calendars.

What you seem to be mentioning are the actual touring plans. For touring plans, Josh does(did?) have pre-made ones, as does touringplans.com, but TP also has the option of making personalized ones.

There are so many changes happening to WDW how can you predict crowds this far out anyway?

What if Avatar opens up in May/June . .how can someone predict NOW what crowds would be like?
What if Hollywood Studios starts closing down more things as construction continues?
What if they offer this crazy discount?

At this point I think just plan to go when you want to go . .avoid big holidays and just plan your vacation without worrying about the day-to-day crowd calendars (that can't be accurate anyway).

Yeah, this is what I was saying earlier. I remember last year, the MK was MOBBED one day and nobody knew why or what was going on. There was a line of traffic and mobs of people. Crowd calendars predicted about a 4, but it was defiantly a 10. Turns out it was a Jewish holiday and it fell on like a Thurs and Fri. Many many states (including FL) had schools that were closed so everyone headed to Disney. It was just a fluke and none of the crowd calendars accounted for the holiday.

OP, Josh did post on his forums recently that he has a new source for info and would be restarting his crowd calendars soon. So, you might want to keep checking his website for them.
Thank you for the heads up! I hope he does decide to start doing them again!

Does anyone actually think that's really going to happen (on Disney's end I mean)?

I think so once everything is calmed down so to speak.

A lot of changes, stuff moving around, Rivers of Light on hold, crowds fluctuating, night time parade leaving, new projection show at HS and MK, new ticketed events in the morning and at night, etc.

I think once Rivers of Lights is running smoothly and Pandora opens then hours should go back to how they were with being mostly finalized pretty decently ahead. EMH have always been changed and moved around so should always keep an eye on those, but the concrete park hours should go back to being ready months in advance.

I also think if they do the ticketed events and stick to a scheduled time frame for those then it'll make it easier for them to post hours ahead. Hard right now it seems to have solid hours if some of these EMM are still up in the air if their going to continue after the first few months of the new year.

I always feel like people rely too much on the calendars. So many times I have read angry posts from people who say things like, " We were at MK yesterday and it was supposed to be a 4 but it was really a 6!" People have different tolerance levels for crowds and one persons 5 is another persons 8. And with crowds increasing across the board, a 5 of today is very different from a 5 of ten years ago.

Agreed. I like to use the crowds just to get an idea tho.. When we went last time, it was Aug, and the crowd Calendar showed 8 & 9 the whole week. But I really didn't think it was all that crowded. I fall into the other end of the tolerance range.. Lol
But goodness, I certainly wouldn't be mad if I showed up expecting a 5 and saw a 10. A prediction is just that, prediction, and should be taken with a grain of salt.
