My DH commented the other night that the one thing he found a little strange was how small the TV's were at the WDW resorts. We generally stay either deluxe or concierge but our goal is to try all the resorts at least once. Back to my ? , is there a reason for this????

If you're in your room watching TV, then you are not out buying food, souvies, etc.

I never really noticed how small they may be. I guess I don't watch too much tv when at Disney. My tv at home isn't too big either.

I noticed that also. I do like to put the TV on in the morning and before bed.
But what is worse is the GF concierge lodge. They have 2 19 or 20 inch TV that are low to the ground(like the old consoles).
But I guess when you are staying GF , you aren't suppose to socialize or stay in the lounge a long time! :rolleyes1

We did a split stay last april and the tv at port orleans french quarter was way bigger than the one in the polynesian room. For a deluxe resort and the price that you pay they should at least have a tv the same size as a moderate resort. We watch in the a.m. and before bed.

*LOL* Even the Presidential Suite at the CR (thousands of $$ a night) has 20" TV's! Cracks me up! A Celeb is going to stay there & get an "average joe" tv!

I think the TV's are small because they are so old. The newest resort, Pop has 27" TV's. I think as they remodel, they will replace the TV's. I know the Concierge's at the CR said that there were plans to replace/update all the TV's on the 14th floor. I would assume they would do so for all rooms at the remodel project progresses.

Who goes to WDW to watch tv??

I was thinking the exact same thing! The only reason we turn a tv on is to see if we're going to get wet the next day or not!

When we stayed at WL in late Sept '04, all the TV's were being replaced. We came back to our room one day to find a new TV had been installed, with dozens more lined up in the hallways that we in the process of being installed.

I think they were slightly larger than then the old ones, but still just an average size. Maybe 25" ????

The Poly is getting all new 27 inch TVs too. I really don't notice the size. We are so tired by the time we get back that we can hardly hold our eyes open, much less watch TV. I'm in WDW! I can watch my 65 inch TV when I get home! LOL!

Just read about the new TV's and the ones at POP. Has anyone stayed at PO-FQ since their rehab, and if so, did they change their TV's yet?

The problem is not how small the TVs are- they are fine in size to us. The problem is the tv is at the same level as the bed? Either the TV is too low or the beds are too high.. you can't lay in bed and watch tv unless you turn sideways- you can't look over your own body to see the tv- you only see your body/feet/etc. and the top few inches of the tv. LOL

Never really noticed the size, but I did notice that there are very few non-disney stations to watch. (Who'da thunk??!???!??)

I was sick during our last trip - just me and hubby and the poor man stayed with me and tried to watch the 2 channels that were available. It was pretty pathetic.

Yeah, yeah, I know "who goes to Disney to watch TV?" Well, sometimes people get sick or have to stay in the room while kids are sleeping. In those cases , it would be nice to have a few channels to choose from.

Oh, one more thing. The bedrooms in the Wilderness Homes do not have TVs at all. There is a spot for them, cable hookup and everything, they used to have them, but no more. We tried to move the TV from the living room into the bedroom, but alas, it was bolted down...........

The TVs at the Poly are the small ones right now but they sit high up in an armoir.

Hey, I watch TV at Disney. I watch the same Disney informercial again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again.

Dang, I wish I could buy a tape of those things.

I for one don’t go to WDW to watch TV and when I watch it before bed the 19” at the Polynesian seemed fine to me. I would rather stay at a Deluxe with a smaller TV than a moderate with a bigger one but for anyone else who thinks the 19” at the Polynesian is too small they are in the middle or redoing the rooms and a new 27” TV is going in each room.
