Why are members walking forward at 8 AM EDT?

I've been watching the website in anticipation of trying to book my dates and cobbling together a trip for 2026. The rooms I want are among the hardest to get. I'm not going to be able to walk because those rooms have never been available at 11 months out.

I've been watching availability behind the walkers right at 8:00 for about a month now, and I've noticed that it's almost guaranteed that these rooms magically appear as available at 11 months minus 1 day shortly after 8:01.

I'm wondering why walkers move their reservations forward a day right at 8:00. They have all day to move forward yet there it is, every day, sometimes multiple members, giving up that 11 months minus 1 day reservation to move their reservation forward. In fact, this morning I saw several consecutive days opened up for an AKV club level studio in April, right at 8:04. No, I didn't grab them but someone got very lucky if they were searching for that room and those dates.

Potentially what was mentioned above, or just the specific room that is high demand that someone doesn’t want to wait and chance a glitch.

I've wondered this too. I suspect at least some of it is folks who don't really understand how walking works.

Also, it is worth a shot trying to get the room a few days early and walk it. That gives you more than one bite at the 8-on-the-dot apple.

It's probably a combo of bots and people not understanding you have all day to move it forward and not understanding you don't need to do it day by day at all.

I have points at BWV and cannot book standard studio at 11 months?? How are bots booking the rooms?

I booked boardwalk view but would have rather done resort studio.

Resort view eokms(no longer called SV) are simply very popular and now go at 11months it seems year round

There is speculation that owners who rent out points will grab them as a resort of choice because if being able to make more.

The info about bots is also speculation that they are being used.

But, there are also plenty of reports of owners who are reserving them who are neither using bots or renting.

We sold in 2019 in part because we could no longer get them…and we fell in love with RIV anyway!!

My primary vote goes for bots, but I also believe it behooves owners to walk forward their reservations right at 8am for the hard to get inventory (such as AKL Club) because you never know when DVC may have pulled a room out of inventory ahead of the 11 month mark. In that case, your walk could be broken even at the 11 month mark.
