Why are bunks at WL so popular?

A lot of what I'm reading is that people are booking bunks at WL? Curious why. We are traveling 2 adults, 5yo, 3yo and infant so booked a regular room. Am I missing something?

Tried doing a search of the forum but keep getting an error message.

I think they are popular with families having opposite sex children - especially if they are older. Also, although both of my children are girls, they don't do well in the same bed - bunks would be heavenly. Neither my husband or I relish sleeping with my older DD who seems to kick the heck out of anyone in bed with her.

Another reason - bunk beds are just a thrill to some kids. Imagine being on vacation to Disney World AND getting to sleep in bunk beds!

Your kids are still very young. In a couple of years, you'll be glad for the bunks for the older two.

Thanks, that makes sense. Still learning about traveling with kids Hopefully the 5yo boy and 3yo girl will still be ok with sleeping together when we go!

A lot of older kids don't really want to share a bed with their brother/sister. It's a good option for them. I remember my brother sleeping on the floor rather than having to share a bed with me.

On the other hand, we stayed in a bunk room when we stayed at AKL with a 2 year old. It was perfect because he was still sleeping in a crib at home, but a pack 'n play was really too small. We put rails on the twin bed and he was snug as a bug. We also draped the comforter from the top bunk over the side to create a divider so the adults could stay up and watch TV while he fell asleep. It really worked perfectly. I would love to have a bunk again for that reason, but not enough to pay extra for it (it was just a request and not an extra charge at the time).

You also end up with a little more floor space because the bunk bed is a single instead of a queen.

I originally booked a standard view room at the Wilderness Lodge for my family which will be myself, my husband and our 11 year old son. We were fine with a standard view room but I now realize that I will be able to pay off our vacation package way before the final payment is due. So, I decided to upgrade to a woods view/bunk bed room.

I figure we will have more floor space with the bunk bed instead of the two queen beds. I also know that my son will like the bunk bed.

I completely agree with the prior posters' comments about the novelty and convenience of bunk beds. Another plus is that if you just have one kiddo, the top bunk is a great spot for storing suitcases and other items.

We are trying them this year! For us, it is because we have opposite sex children: DD(6) and DS(14). DS is not keep on sharing a bed with DH, and DD likes to kick in her sleep so no one wants to sleep with her.

Did anyone else share a bed with a sibling of the opposite sex when they went on vacation as kids? I did with my older brother, the last time he was 18 and I as 13. It was no big deal, I mean it's my brother.

Now, after the older boys quit going I slept in the bed with my step-mom, and not the step-brother that was my age. That would have been weird.

My DS8 and DD5 just freaked over the bunks! It was a total novelty and they would switch each night who got the top bunk! Also, noone had to sleep with DD- aka THE THRASHER_

For us it's a matter of my son being 15 and daughter 12 next time we go. They need their own beds now!

My DS loves bunk beds and we won't get one for him at home so it is a big thrill for him just to sleep in one. Our kids are still young but I can see in the future since they are a boy and a girl wanting their own bed as well.

We had them at AKL one trip, DS slept on top, DD bottom. They will never sleep in the same bed since maybe they were 5 and 3. We asked for extra sheets and draped them over the top bunk, kept it like that the whole trip. The kids could go into there with the little portable DVD player and watch a movie while we relaxed in what seemed like (at the time) our own room. It was nice also for DD to go to sleep a little earlier than we did.
It is nice for those whose kids won't sleep together.
