Why and what are the reasons and your views on LTT characters being taken away?

The Plaza, Tony's, and LTT at lunch are it for non character dining inside the MK at this point in time.

1) I don't consider the Plaza as a TS eatery, as it is just a sandwich place.
2) LTT lunch isn't dinner.
3) Tony's is an option, but the quality has severely wained in the past 4-yrs. *

* When asked for MK eateries, I do not ever recommend Tony's to guests.

As everyone here has said, the food was awful. I'm guessing LTT wasn't very popular, and it should be. It's great location, but I haven't dined there myself in many years. The other dining choices in MK are pretty much just as bad and just as BORING! Also, how healthy was that menu? Ham, Stovetop stuffing, instant mashed potato? C'mon.

You haven't dined there in "many years", and yet you know the food was awful? :confused3

Not everyone here is saying the food is awful, and I actually think the food is some of the best in all of WDW. It's why we try to eat there once per trip to WDW. I don't know many other places in WDW where you get that kind of menu, except for Garden Grill, and I've found the service at GG lacking on several occasions. I actually like the food choices. It's different from chicken fingers and burgers they have just about everywhere else in MK. Don't forget they offer green beans (I love their green beans), salads, and some other stuff you won't find elsewhere within MK.

As regards to the characters not being available, I'll believe it when I see something on WDW's site, or at LTT itself. However, the characters have never been our primary reason for eating at LTT. We reserve our character meals for places where we know we wouldn't otherwise eat, since our girls simply will not eat if they're all excited to see the characters come to their table. Prime example: the Princess Breakfast at Akershus. :)

Well alrighty then. You didn't specify dinner in your question. And although it is lots of sandwiches, the Plaza has a waitress and the ts credit charge to say it is table service.

When I want non character dining at the MK beyond a sandwich or Italian food, I hop on the monorail and go to the GF Cafe or Kona.

I was hoping to do character dining one time if and when I visited Disney World in Jan or Feb next year. Is the LTT where you could dine with Meeko? He's my favorite animal character and I would have loved to dine with him. According to a book I've got (I think it was the book) Meeko was available to dine with at LTT.

Meeko isn't at LTT anymore. He is frequently out front at Animal Kingdom and you can sometimes see him in the Liberty Square area with Pocahantas. My daughter is also a Meeko fan so we have to hunt him down at least once!

Checke your times guides at each park, it always has a listing of what characters are available and where you can find them. But we see Meeko most every trip, in the area around the bag check at AK. Its even before you go into the turnstiles.

As of October 6, Garden Grill will not serve lunch at all. It's not just getting rid of the characters. They will still have a character dinner.

Costs of everything are rising and rising quickly, and I'm betting in the next few months WDW will also be seeing a downturn in attendance, as people can't easily afford to travel there anymore. They had too many character meals already.

It's the appetizer they dropped, not the dessert - which wouldn't have affected either LTT or GG since they're fixed-menu meals.

I would look for other cuts, short of more closings - cheaper ingredients, etc.

I'm pretty sure they already are seeing a downturn in US citizen visits. I've been reading people's "recent trip reports" and lots are saying that there's practically no traffic on I75 south through Florida (TONS of us in the southeast and midatlantic drive down there). Far fewer Americans in the parks (when this is usually high season, with school out), mostly foreigners with good $$ exchange rates right now making trips here super cheap for them.

Now we always go in September, so we are used to the parks being mostly full of foreigners (lots of Brits, Sept. is a popular month for them to visit!). But it's very odd for that to be true in June and July!

IDK. I'm thinking we'll end up banking our dvc points next year - while the place to stay is paid for, the rest of a Disney trip costs quite a bit. Things are going to get worse before they get better in this country, I'm afraid.

Keep the characters, change the food! I have never had such a gross meal! Good grief, if I want a sodium-laced Stouffer's meal, I can swing by the freezer aisle at the grocery store! Then for $29 I can feed a family of 6!

I have to agree - love the atmosphere of LTT but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money for the main entree to be like something I can buy in the frozen food section at home!
