I have just heard today that LTT are taking the characters away. I am so shocked and dissapointed. It was our favourite resturant for food and characters. I am very dissapointed. Too many changes and cut backs are happening at the moment. Not all good.

How do you feel? Why are they taking them away?

I never heard this and would love to know, too, as we have an ADR for Sept...

Apparently the uk boards said it would be starting in January along with other of GG no characters at lunch. Fantasmic being cut to twice a week.

It is no longer a character meal as of Jan 5th?.I think the reasons are Cost,COst,and COst .Plus the fact that as of right now there are 5 TS rest. inside Mk and 3 are character meals.I have no problems with them trying something new.I liked the meal with the characters, but I like the Lunch menu there much much more.

Why does Disney do anything?! Cost. They want to make money since it is a business.

Nobody has a solid and accurate reason as it has not been provided by Disney. Money would be my best guess, however.

The reasons as I understand them are two-fold (though I hate to see it change as well). First, it cuts down on the cost of the characters. Second, since the characters are no longer there, turnaround time is better. In other words, since people aren't waiting on characters, they take less time to eat, which means more people eating during the day, which means more money in their pocket.....:confused3

We won't bother eating there again now that they are cutting out the characters. We thought the characters were the best at LTT out of any character meal we've experienced. With older teen boys, most of the character meals feel too young or too girlie for us, but LTT has always been just the right amount of fun.

Don't know... one can only speculate. The dinner food is terrible, we only went for the characters- so, in the future it's off our list. I am hoping it's b/c they are going to open a NEW restaurant with character dining, so they are phasing it out of LTT so that there aren't too many character meals at the MK (my hope is it's pirate themed)...... but really, no one who is not an insider knows the real reason.

AND even though it means more money in their pockets, it also should mean more times available for more guests. Maybe trying to free up some so that more people can get ressies since it can be hard to get TS reservations. IMO, I wouldnt be suprised to see few character meals, and if you want to meet the characters you'll just find them in other places.

Why else does WDW change things? Money.

If they don't have characters in a restaurant then they can turnover that table a lot quicker. No one would be sitting at the table waiting for the characters to come sign autographs or have to get the cameras ready, pose and take photographs of each person at that table.

I disagree with most of the posts onthis thread. Jim Hill said it was money, and Jim Hill is about as reliable as...the local weather report. No, the local weather report is right about half of the time...Yet people still quote him...

As everyone here has said, the food was awful. I'm guessing LTT wasn't very popular, and it should be. It's great location, but I haven't dined there myself in many years. The other dining choices in MK are pretty much just as bad and just as BORING! Also, how healthy was that menu? Ham, Stovetop stuffing, instant mashed potato? C'mon.

How many TS locations does MK have? And what are they? How does that compare to the other parks - especially when MK is the park with the most evening hours!

I think if they offer a more interesting menu, I'll consider dining there again. I say it was about time they made a change!

Ditto for Garden Grill - great location - uninteresting menu.

When I called about an ADR at the Wave, the CM hinted that there would be more dining changes along the same lines at WDW. Interesting, exciting, healthy dining options! If that's what they are going to offer at LTT, then I may well consider it on my next vacation!

[small voice].....we like the food at LTT, and kinda don't care for the characters there. We always do DDP, this last trip we did DxDDP so we have a character meal just about every day, and while the ones at LTT are the "big ones" We can see them all at BC for Goofy's B-fast, CM's and a bunch of other places.

For us, we like the LTT food, and we like that its a TS in MK.

Personally, I'm glad some of the character meals are going away. I don't want to eat with characters. I just want to have a good meal. So the character meal restaurants weren't ever in my plans.

I can and do eat other places. I want a little more variety without having to politely tell Tigger to go away.

This is my hope too! More options for boys would be great. Although, DD9 is the one who would be most excited to meet Jack.:lovestruc

I believe it's simply a cutback anticipating a probable downturn in park attendance in the coming year due to economic conditions. This isn't the only one and there will probably be more.

I don`t understand why people would only go for the characters if the food is bad. Why pay $29.00 and forch yourself to eat " what you call bad food:confused3 . I have eatten at LTT many time the food is some of the best at MK.:goodvibes I say save your money and go look for the same characters in the park. They are out there open your eyes and save $29.00 a person. :upsidedow
