Why am I not excited any more?

Have a wonderful time! It'll hit you when you get headed out of town for sure! My DH just called from work and said, "Let's look at the calendar and see if we can get back to Disney this winter.":goodvibes

I am so happy! Our next trip we have planned is Dec 2008! I would love a little Disney magic before then, even if it is just a quickie!:rotfl:

We're looking at the week before Christmas! SHHH! Early Christmas gifts~the kids don't know! I'm so excited! :goodvibes Just the other day, I suddenly felt a very strange and strong need to be in Epcot.:figment:

I get the strange sensation of loosing excitment because I know that what I have spent so much time planning for will be over in a matter of days. I always shed a few tears the last day at WDW because I do not know when I will be back:sad1: . I guess that comes from my childhood years when it was totally out of my control when I would be able to go to Disney World. In a nut shell...thinking about the Disney trip being over soon puts a damper on my excitement:sad2: ...until I am actually there:banana: !

i feel that nasty old let down feeling once in a while too ,even though we aren't going until april *08. i am the main 'planner' dsil did the travel agent planning and adr's but dd & i decided on the when's and where's for the trip and adr's. and i have been on these boards finding out so many cool tips, tricks & ideas...and i try not to get overboard when i talk about it but everyone i now thinks i am nuts!  i try to give the grandbabies a bit of disney news every once in a whiel and a countdown to when we go..they have it down to a chant now....halloween,thanksgiving,christmas,new years, cousin chloe's 1st b'day, valentine's day, cousin avery's 1st b'day, easter then DISNEY WORLD!!!! the passage of holidays really helps to count down with them. and i have been buying things here and there fo rhte trip and they enjoy putting the stuff i get them " in the box in mama's cloest for disney world!" be it jammies, poncho's or glow sticks! i have been buying disney stuff to give them each night while we are ther as they sleep, got the idea o the disboards,to help tame the gimme's.just lil htings like princess crown, mickey playing cards, pack of 2 lil disney frisbee's with princess/cars on them...all things from dollar general or dollar tree...the planning is 1/2 the fun but when i feel overloaded i try to htink about soemhting else or go read osemone's trip report and live through their stories! and then telling the grands what i read really gets my mood turned around...
i hope you get to feeling better soon and really have a wonderful time....my hardest thing is to keep telling myself " it's ok if i don't get to do all i have read about' becaus ewe are also planning trips with the other 2 kids and their babies in the next few years...happy planning all...

For me it is just the planning and calling and more planning and then all of a sudden it occurs to me that I am wishing the time away to get to vacation and the problem is that the vacation will be over before I know it!! So I stop being excited, stop planning (even though everything has been done a long time ago) and stop everything.
We are leaving on Thanksgiving morning for 2 days at WL then doing the 7 day Eastern cruise! Talk about CANNOT WAIT! My son turns 10 on the day we sail and he has no idea that we are going at all. ;)
I am just trying to calmly wait until the trip because it will be all over in the blink of an eye. :sad1:
Mommanne, we will see you at WCC on Thanksgiving!! :cool1: :thumbsup2
It is going to be just great!!

I finally got excited about our trip again a few days ago, then DH tells me he hurt his back and hip :sad1: This also happened about three years ago and we went anyway and had a pretty miserable time (went to a park only 1 day out of 8 we were there)..... What gets me the most is that he WILL NOT go to a doctor! I started planning this trip in January and I am trying to be mature about it but I am really disappointed. I know that he did not do this on purpose but it is hard not to be bitter about the fact that he will not DO anything about it!!! I guess I will just have to hope that he has a miracle recovery and that we can go.. I am not looking forward to having to call and cancel...

That stinks. Your DH should go to the doctor because maybe the doctor can give him some muscle relaxants or some other kind of medication to ease it and he would have almost 2 weeks to feel better.

On our last trip, my DS got a cold and DH was nasty and cranky because although he claims he loves the heat, he didn't drink enough and got dehydrated and lightheaded. He said the kids kept taking his drinks. I said um, we're on the dining plan, you have plenty of snack credits to get more. I had my trusty Brita water bottle and was fine. So one night the 2 of them were really complaining and I said you know what, after we eat dinner, you guys are going back to the hotel and I'm coming back to MK by myself to see Spectromagic and Wishes, and that's exactly what I did. If your DH doesn't feel well, he can relax in the room but it doesn't mean you have to stay with him every second. :rolleyes1 Or maybe you could rent him a wheelchair or ECV.

I hope it works out for you!

Now I was starting to get excited, and now I have a stupid cold and laryngitis. :sad2: I didn't even start to pack yet, although I have some piles of stuff to take put aside.

My trip is in 18 days, and I have yet to get excited. It is such a weird feeling, because I am usually bouncing off the walls by now. I think there are a lot of factors involved. My daughter is in band and marching season is such a busy time for us. I chaperone all the games and competitions, so both of us are always on the go. So mainly, I think I just haven't had time to really think about it, much less get excited. Plus, I've never been this time of year before (Thanksgiving week), and I am a little stressed about the crowds.

I know what you mean! You've got to savor every moment! And take lots of pictures so you can re-live those moments!

I agree with Rustysmom~Put DH in a hot tub and say "I hope you feel better, honey! Bye!"
If he won't see a doc, there's no sense ruining your vacation!;)

I have two ideas to help everybody build excitement for their trip to WDW. First of all you can go to your local AAA office and get a free Disney World vacation planning magazine. My family and I collect them and look at them every chance we get. I have one with me right now at work. Secondly, call WDW and order the free Walt Disney World vacation planning DVD. This is something else that we collect every year. We like to make popcorn popcorn:: and watch the DVDs as if we have rented a movie:happytv: . The DVDs really are very entertaining and they help to give you that quick "Disney Fix.":dancer: :simba:

I know what you mean. That happy Disney music on the DVD will get you every time. When we are done watching all of those happy people having fun at WDW we are all excited about going!:dance3:

There's a form of 'Buyer's Regret' that hits me before every trip, about three weeks out. I just went through it a month ago before our Oct. 10 - 17 trip. I get the attitude, 'Well, I guess I'll have to go, the plans have been made, the tix and airfare paid for.' Needless to say, we had a ball as we always do. Just yesterday I had the home videos out from our 2004 trip in which our whole extended family went and I'm psyched for next Feb/March as though we haven't been there in years, when in fact this trip will mark 3 trips within 12 months. But I'm sure that around Valentine's Day I won't have that anticipation at all. Lately, it's the getting out of the luggage and packing that restores the 'Christmas Eve' feeling prior to a WDW trip.

I got the final itinerary from DU today with all of our ADRs and it's hitting me. :cool1: It lays out everything that's going on everywhere in the world, park hours, etc. so that helps for last minute changes to the plans while we're there.

We've watched the planning DVD a few times and the kids are getting excited too. I ordered a bunch of Disney clothing for all of us and now all I have to do is get the extended forecast and start packing.

That's the spirit!! Anybody that is blessed to have the resources and family to go to WDW with should be happy and excited. There are many people around the world that would love to be in your shoes. HAVE FUN!!!!:disrocks::jumping1:
