We are almost at the 6 month mark, and with school starting and holidays in there, I'm sure it will go faster than it seems!

We are going Feb 5-11th, and I'm just curious for those who have gone in early Feb. what you have to say!

How is the weather.. Really? and you experience with the crowds??

How about the parks.. do they all close at 5pm?

Any tips would be appreciated!

I live in Central Florida, so we go to the parks often. February is by far my favorite time to go!

The weather is unpredictable. It may be warm during the day, but will most definitely be cooler at night. Pack layers - light jackets, sweaters, t-shirts, long pants.

I think the only park that closes by 5 or 6 is Animal Kingdom. They do all close earlier than in the summer, but the closing times tend to vary, so check the WDW website calendar before your trip to plan which days to do at which parks.

The crowds are almost non-existent. Here's a pic from a day in the Magic Kingdom in Feb of this year. It was around 10am or so, in Frontierland:

We didn't wait in a single line that day.

Have a great trip.... you'll love coming in Feb, even if you do have to wait a whole 6 more months!

We went this year for a weekend in early Feb. and the weather wasn't very cooperative. It rained enough that we carried umbrellas most of the time. It was also pretty chilly. DS & I had gloves, hats and jackets on at night. Waiting for Spectro DS was cold even though he was bundled up. Sunday morning wasn't rainy but it was only in the 50's, so not very warm!

Thanks for the replies so far. I have to say, lots of rain would definately be a bummer... but the cold won't worry us, were not big swimmers, and back home here in Wisconsin, it will be about 20 degrees!
So anywhere between 50-70 would be ideal!

We are tentatively scheduled to be at WDW from Feb 2 to Feb 5. Feb is Mardi Gras so you should see some South Louisianians there. Not sure what park will be at on the 5th but we will be loaded down with beads to give away. Have fun!!

We were there a few years ago and the first few days were hot then a coldsnap came in and we frooze. Half our pics are in shorts and half in sweats and coats.

We are going Feb 1 - 9. I have been a little concerned about the night time temperatures as I hate having to pack both shorts and pants. BUT, I was persuaded to that time frame because of how there are far fewer crowds at that time. I'm still concerned about the temps though.

We were there in early February in 2005. The weather was good; not too warm and too cold for (some! ) to swim. But touring the parks was great; the crowds were not bad and the weather was just right. We had only one overcast day. I liked it, but for those who have their hearts set on swimming and sunning, there are unfortunately no weather guarantees.

Had a great time swimming last Feb, especially it was at the AKL pool!

We are going Feb 1st thru the 9th also!!!! :thumbsup2

This will be our 3rd year going the first week of February. We enjoy that week because the crowds are light. It is a bit chilly, we usually wear pants and t shirts but have a jacket for when the sun goes down. It does get pretty chilly, but not as cold as it is in Jersey or Pennsylvania in February!!

So how light are the crowds on average? The photo above (by 1Prince2Princesses) shows the park emptier than I have ever seen it. But, then again, I've never been there in February before. Do you still use Fastpass a lot or can you pretty much just go for the normal wait lines without having to wait too long?

Yeah....the temps in Florida will seem warm no matter what compared to the temps we usually have back here at that time! :thumbsup2

I havent seen the park that empty, even the first week of February. But we also havent been there at 10 am. We only needed to use fastpass once and that was for Soarin. The lines are not that long at all to wait. We may have waited 10 - 15 minutes at the most. Never longer than that. The first week of February usually has a lot of cheerleaders there since there usually is some kind of competition, but the crowds are still ok as far as waiting for rides. We keep going that same week so you know it cant be that bad. We made the mistake of going one year at spring break, never again!!! I would rather take the kids out of school then deal with those crowds.

Hope that helps, you should not have a problem with wait times for any of the rides. The only other ride that comes to mind that you may want to get a fastpass for is Peter Pans flight at MK. No matter what time we went, there was a pretty long wait. We even tried to go during wishes thinking everyone would be watching fireworks......I think everyone else had the same idea.

You will love going in February, enjoy it.

Well we always go for Quebec spring break which is usually last bit of February and first bit of March. ( 2008 we're going Feb 27th ).
Crowds are usually pretty manageable. I don't think we've ever waited more than 30 min to get on a ride ( well okay except for when Soarin' opened ).

Tempreature has been typically nice but with one cold day every so often. ( but no rain )

We went Feb 5-12 '06 & it was empty but COLD! The first two days was warm. The high was around 70 & the low was about 55, BUT then it changed. It was freezing. You could see your breathe on the walk to bus in the mornings & there was frost on the windows! The low would get down under 32 degrees & the high was 52!! One day it was colder in Fl than it was back home in NY! :scared1: I ended up buying a heavy coat at DTD in addition to my long sleeve shirt & sweatshirt. Add on top of that gloves & a hat- then I was comfortable.

I've been a few times in Jan & it was chilly but I had never experienced cold like I did in Feb '06.

If you plan for it though, I still feel it's worth it, the parks are empty! I'd go back in Feb now that I really know what to expect. I feel if you're prepared for it it's not near as bad.

in feb of 06 we went first week and had ok weather, high 70's
last year in feb 07 we went pres week and the first part of the week was cold, it was that weird cold front all along the east coast butby midweek it warmed up and was in the eighties. we used sweatshirts in the evenings.

Back in Feb 05, we used fast passes for Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh and once for Test Track. But even the lines we were trying to avoid were only 25-30 minutes. That's about the worst it will be at that time of year. Weather was all over the map. 70s at times, then 50s one day. It never rained, so I can't complain. It's worth it for the empty parks.

I am a local and I also love February. Low crowds and cool, crisp temps. It may start out pretty cold in the morning. By afternoon, the temps could be anywhere from the 50s to the mid-70s.

I was about to post a similar question. My vacation will be in the end of the month, probably the last week of Feb. I think it is the week after Presidents week. I am playing with the dates to get decent airfare. Should I expect similar crowds since we are skippinf Presidents week?
