Has anybody ever seen any Nascar drivers at any of the parks during the 2 weeks of speed weeks in Feb? We will be there Feb. 4 - 10 and my kids are hugh nascar fans and they are hoping maybe to run in to some drivers at the parks. Who have you seen and what week of Feb?

Don't know, but my DH could be talked into another trip if they'll be there! Let us know when you do go.

I don't know if you're looking for scheduled appearances by any of the drivers, because if they were going just for their own personal enjoyment, I don't think they would be sending out press kits detailing where they would be. If you're looking for scheduled appearances, I suggest checking out the driver appearance page on jayski.com. You can get a pretty good idea of who's going to be where, but I would bet that any appearance info for Speedweeks wouldn't be out yet.

I was just wanting to know if anybody has ever maybe been on a ride or walking around the parks and saw a driver there with their family.

It is highly unlucky that any NASCAR driver will be at WDW during speed weeks. They are all at Daytona and all out practising for the first race of the new NASCAR season the Daytona 500. Your best bet would be to go over to Daytona track and watch them practise in real life. It is not that expensive to go to a practise and a real blast to see the track if you have never been at it. Also visit Daytona USA while there.

It's not that they don't go places while they're down there, it's just that stumbling upon one of them would be like coming across someone you know while you're at Disney World. Sure, it could happen, but I'm not sure I would get my hopes way up. Anything's possible though (like when I saw Kurt Busch eating lunch at the Olive Garden in Charlotte recently), and if you happen upon one of them, just remember that they are on vacation just like you, and are deserving of the peace and relaxation that you too are in search of.

p.s. I work for the #38 M&M's Ford on the weekends (one of the weekend warriors), so I know a little about their schedules. While they tend to stay in the Daytona area during the month preceeding the Speedweeks, you can catch them out and about if there is some free time, and a lot of them have their families with them during that time, so it makes sense that Disney might be one of the better bets to find a driver and his family. Good luck driver hunting.

chipandwendy, I know what you mean about stumbling upon them. We live 1 hr. from Lowes Motor Speedway, so we are at Concord Mills alot. My dd and myself stumbled upon Greg Bifle on Dec. 6 in Bass Pro. Last year at Christmas time we stumbled upon Fatback McSwain at Bass Pro. Just keeping fingers crossed that we stumble upon a couple while at the parks.

I too will be at WDW Feb 5-12.....Would LOOOOOVVVEEEEE to run into Michael Waltrip at the parks!!!!!!! Heres to wishing!!!!

Don't discount NOT running into them. During TV coverage of speedweeks last year, several of the drivers, crews and media were giving each other a hard time for being "scared" of particular rides. Fatback had mentioned that his family spent the day at Epcot and had a nice time. Most of the media TV personalities must have went along because they were having a great time teasing some of the drivers. Some of the drivers with kids talked about Magic Kingdom while the others talked about MGM.

I second the person that mentioned going out to Daytona. That place is awesome! We stumbled upon Tony Stewart filming a Pontiac commercial at Daytona in January 2002. We didn't get to talk to him, but could watch the filming. We did run into his aunt and uncle at our hotel one morning during breakfast and spent some time talking to them. His uncle actually approached me since I was wearing a Tony t-shirt. Very nice people and they had some "insider" stories about Tony and Christmas that particular year. You never know who you will meet! Especially if you wear the right t-shirt!! :cool1:

I just gave DH tickets to the Gatorade Dual races (aka 125's), Truck and Iroc Races for FEB! We have seen a lot of drivers over our years of going to the race in Daytona. I met up with Alan Kulwicki at the hotel one night got a pic and auto, then Rusty Wallace a few years back when he and Patty walked the beach to visit with the crew at the hotel we where also at and got a picture and an auto he was so nice and so was the crew man those people PARTY a lot. LOL I"ve met Tony Glover while waiting for supper over at Aunt Catfish's in Ponce Inlet he was waiting right with the rest of us. We just asked how the car was for Ernie Irvan and he chatted with us a bit. Great memories in Daytona for sure. If you can figure out where the crews are your likely to get inside info too. The drivers stay in the motor coaches nowadays so you don't see them out much. We did rent a limo last year and the driver said he'd taken out Junior and friends the nigth before they'd been to Razzles and the bars on Main Street. :)
