Who's remodeling?

We are in a perpetual state of remodeling..... when ever you fix something, something else clearly looks like crap! lol

As A owner of A older woodframe house I know exactly what your saying. In my case its seems fix onething and two other repairs needs to be done.
Wood framed houses in Florida-bad idea.Way to much humidty and termites!!:sad2:
I think Fla leads the nation on termites,or at least at my house...

Beginning in 2004 we started a major addition/remodel. The whole project took 15 months so we took some time off. This fall DH demo'd the hall bath which is about 3/4 of the way done. As soon as he is finished there we will begin the kitchen. Next year we plan to do some cosmetic work to the fireplace in the kitchen and the family room. They are changes we wanted to make during the original addition but ran out of money (hardwood floors, etc).

I have remodeling fatigue right now, so am taking a break. I do have a bathroom to undertake, and am just adding to my "ideas folder" right now...I have no energy to get beyond that. Two years ago, we undertook a major remodel (gut to the studs, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, rebuilding the stairwell to the upper level, and spare room). It took 9 months, and meant moving out of our home for three months. Six months after that work was done, we redid the dining room, TV room and living room, including skim-coating all of the plaster/lathe walls, new carpeting (hardwood for the DR), and all new furniture and accessories. There is still more to be done, and that's what I get for buying a home built in 1903! I am so tired I cannot tell you. Here are some photos of the first project (I had the help of a designer):

Oh my goodness! Your laundry room!

Yesterday was our final inspection for the 2 story addition we put on the back of our house.

We had a brick patio that we dug out and made into an extension of our family room on the first floor and a master bath on the second floor.

Here's a link to our blog:

If you look at the blog, it works with most recent post first and goes bacwards. Start at the beginning which is in July of 2009.

We had someone do the foundation, framing and outside work and plumbing. We did all the wiring, drywall, flooring and other inside stuff. We have some minor bits left (touch up paint, fill some nail holes, install closet doors, etc...) but as I sai we had the final inspection by our town yesterday and passed.

Now wer are repainting some rooms and will start a total rebuild on our original bathroom in another month or two.
