My first DVC trip is in a few weeks and I'm planning to order groceries. Most threads that I have read contain the pros and cons of garden grocer and wegoshop and they both sound like good options, however, I'm wondering who has ordered grocerices directly through DVC and what has been your experience ? Would you receommend this ?
I have the grocery list on the members website and it seems pretty straightforward.
Just wondering if it would be less complicated to deal with DVC directly ?

Thanks

Joe

I ordered once through DVC when staying at VWL. They arrived about a half hour after we checked in, and they put everything away for me. I tried to tip her, and she refused. I recieved everything I ordered from the VWL grocery list.
It is a bit more money, but I would have spent the difference renting a car, and the time to rent the car, and drive to a grocery, I felt it was worth it. Especially convenient, as I was only there for 5 days, and didn't want to waste precious park time.

I ordered groceries from DVC for our 2003 trip to VWL. It was nice to have them delivered to our room, but you can buy the exact same items in the Mercantile and save yourself the delivery fee.

I think the fee is only 3 bucks, but yes, we also now like to get them ourselves, only because we like to check out what else is in the store.

When we did it, I think they actually shopped at the shops and brought the groceries to your room. The items were the exact same brands and sizes as they have in the shops.

If you do not have a car and do not trust the others, then this was a good option.

as we hire a car we usually go to Pulix or similar whilst the other unpacks but this year our flight was badly delayed and I wish I had ordered the basics, seriousley thinking about it for next year.

We did this in 2004. They delivered and put away while we were at the parks. It was nice, but I could have gotten all of the stuff I ordered from the shop in the resort. I will be trying wegoshop this time. There is more of a selection.

We order the basics when we stay at the BWV or BCV. That way, the things we need for breakfasts (ie, eggs, bacon, half and half, fruit, juice) are all put away when we get back from the parks. There's a limited selection, but the service is great and it saves valuable park time. We tend to eat in the parks for lunch and dinner, but it's really convenient for breakfast and snacks.

Five days and counting 'til F & W at the BWV!!!

Haven't gone yet, but we were told that DVC would shop outside WDW (and charge accordingly, not gift shop prices) for us and charge $6 to do it. DH is very happy about this - no more $9 beers! :cool1:

DVC doesn't have Pepsi. That's a serious disadvantage. :sad2: I can only go so long at WDW with Diet Coke before my blood Pepsi level drops to dangerous levels.

Just adding that the grocery prices with Garden Grocer are almost identicle to what Disney charges (I made note of prices at WL Merchantile for comparison) and Disney employees are always professional and respectful.

Unless you want to shop on your own, I'd have to say if it'd be worth having Disney do the shopping and delivery with minimal headache as can be caused by using a service company.

We faxed our order 5 days before our Thanksgiving 2004 trip and the items didn't arrive. The second day of our trip we called and questioned where our stuff was, and they delivered an hour later with an apology. Some items weren't int he order, but we weren't cherged for them either. The girl refused our tip, and put the items in the fridge.

We are going to give it a second try this coming Thansgiving. with hope we have better luck.

Ditto for me! I need my DP in the mornings!
If you try to drive off site, be ware of "Goodings" in the strip near DTD. They proudly had a display of 24pk bottled water for only $10.99! :lmao: Up to $7.49 for a box of cereal. For those prices it should have been delivered by Mickey himself! Oh...the store was a pit too.
So...we drove on. I was never so glad to see a WalMart in my life. Please understand... I really really dislike WalMart and will normally set foot inside only in dire emergencies. Well..this was it! At least they were fairly priced.

If you're into driving a little, there's a Publix west of WDW...actually only one mile or so from US27. Nice short road trip...away from the hoopla between WDW and Walmart and price aren't bad (well...2.5 years ago anyway)

Just wondering.

Does DVC have a listing of the items that they sell in regards to groceries.

Someone mentioned that they will get what you need offsite as well?

Thanks

thanks for the advice and Yes, there is a grocery list on the DVC Member site, although its buried - I believe I saw it in the Members Perks section. Anyways, I plan to oder the groceries through DVC. hopefully it all turns out OK.

The list is posted as a *.pdf file on the member site. I am not aware of any offsite items being provided for by DVC
