The fires are really starting to worry me. What are the rest of you thinking? Are you all going to go ahead with everything as planned? Aaackkk!!!

I should be focused on packing and laundry and shopping for last minute stuff, but instead I keep refreshing the board, hoping for more info on the fires. Ah well, we'll make the best of it and continue on. :-)

We leave Thursday, we aren't changing our plans. Maybe we will see you there!

Let's all think safe thoughts for those there now, and those of us who are planning to be there this week... scary stuff. I live in Idaho, and we get horrible smoke from fires. It's no fun at all...

We're leaving Thursday and are not changing plans. I'm hoping things clear up a bit by then but I'm not holding my breath (although I might have when we arrive to in order to avoid the smoke :) ).

Being from MT we have went through many, many a summer w/ forest fires. Also having our house and cars covered in soot. My dad drives all the fire jumpers and fire fighters to there destinations. They have the hardest job around. I'm glad they like to do what they do.:cutie: I'm not worried about the fires, because there would be Airport closure's. We leave on Monday and I hope that it has all calmed down by then. I'm bringing masks just in case.:3dglasses

Yes, also from MT, we just went through a summer of fires with smoke/ash but not as devastating as this is! So many people, so close together and its very dry. We just came back on Sat night, not sure when the fires started but my hubby and I commented on how hard it would be to move people out in an emergency, the close proximately of everything. We were at Legoland on Sat evening, didn't notice any of this so must of starting after we left. I wouldn't want to be planning our trip this week, if they decide to evacuate large areas, Anaheim would definitely be affected as least traffic wise.

Your right. Not as many people in one place. My sister house almost burned down as well as several other because the fire just went up the whole mountain side. When I was there in Aug the fires where so bad that they where evacing almost all the way to to my sis house and she had five horse and dogs, chickens, etc she couldn't take w/ her. They had to pack up the truck and wait for the call. The smoke was so bad you couldnt see to the back side of the neighbors house. Was on constant allergy meds

I've talked to the airlines and they said they are no delays. I also got on the webcam for LAX and it looked ok.

The LAX website has weather info and they said that the winds should reach their highest on Tues and then subside. They also show the weather dropping from the 90's to the 80's for the rest of the week.

We leave tomorrow and arrive in the afternoon. We are so scared. I pray for everyone there and travelling there. Let's hope everyone stays safe.

If I see anything else I will be sure to post.

My family is there until Sunday.

Well my friend is in San Diego and is evacuating TO DL. I think you will be fine. Keep fingers crossed it's getting bad.....

We are leaving on Saturday and now I wonder if we should just cancel. We've been many times and were just taking a weekend trip.

Figured some of you would be worried about travelling here. As of right now, the fires aren't near Disneyland - they are in East Irvine and going south. So that direct area should be fine. That is also not near LAX or John Wayne. Can't make promises of the air quality. John Wayne is currently experiencing some power issues but that should clear up soon. Good luck in your travels.

I have just suggested that to my brother and sister in law, who have voluntarily evacuated from their home in Chula Vista. Might as well make the best of it, right?

When they were first having their house built, there were other huge fires, and he kept going to his soon-to-be neighbor's house and taking pictures of the nearby burning hills, and sending the pictures to the family. Scared us! And now I can't get that out of my head. I think I'll flat out urge him to evac to Disneyland. :upsidedow

I was at Disneyland for a few hours today (10/22)

It was plenty warm and the Santa Ana winds were crazy!
But no problems as far as the fires go. The skies were hazy, but no smell or ash at all in Anaheim.

Now driving south on the I5 past Irvine was no fun. Sheesh, I was choking just passing by on the freeway and I'm not usually bothered by asthma or allergies at all. I feel for those who are.

Hopefully some of the reinforcements from other states will get here quickly and these darn winds will calm dowm a bit so the firefighters can get a handle on things.

It seems everytime I turn on the radio or TV I hear about yet another fire.
:sad1:

Thanks for the updates everyone! Prayers for those having to evac.

we were there yesterday you could not smell the smoke or see any smoke yesterday. now we live in san diego so on the way home we hit smoke. . . we are still HOME, our friends are with us, they were evacuated through the reverse 911 calls they are doing. . . i just wish people would remember lives are more important than structures. . .

Prayers to all who are in the line of the fires and who are travelling.
We will be in the parks from Thurs. - Sat. Hoping that the winds will die down. MIL has lung issues. Will recommend that she take a mask, just in case. Maybe we'll see some of you there. (LG Mickey with Husker Mickey siggie on our Ameribag.)
Safe travels to all! :thumbsup2
