Who's got the bad weather right now?

Central VA checking in. It's 24 degrees, all schools have closed and we are supposed to get 3 - 5" inches today, followed by freezing rain & sleet tonight. So far, nothing is falling from the sky at 7:10 AM. Christmas break started 2 days early for us cause I suspect if we get what we are supposed too, there will be no school tomorrow either.....DD is so bummed that they won't have their holiday party which was also PJ and Polar Express day

Our kids have school through the 23rd next week. You have a LONG break this year.

It's 33 in NC right now but there is 1/4" of ice on EVERYTHING. Every local school is closed but my DH's office is open. I'm panicking because he should've been at work 20 minutes ago and I told him to call when he got there and I haven't heard from him yet.

Yesterday morning we had the most beautiful snowfall right around 8 am..... unfortunately it was the kind of snow that makes the roads horrible. A Mom and her 15 year old daughter were killed on their way to school and an 18 year old college freshman was killed when his jeep slid into a utility pole, he was on his way to a final exam.

Our kids have school through the 23rd next week. You have a LONG break this year.

Yeah, we had 2 full weeks last year too....now we have two more. I'm guessing if the snow ever makes it here (still not a flake yet at 9 AM), we'll be closed tomorrow too. I think Hanover is the only county that has the full 2 weeks? All my friends with kids in surrounding counties and my nephew in Williamsburg go to the 23rd too

we went to bed with no bad weather. Just cold. But we woke up with 3" of snow and its still falling. They are calling for at least 7"

it is 19 but feels like 11. It is snowing and will be until noon. We have about 3 inches or so. Suspose to end up with 3-5.

Most of the schools are closed. We were off on Monday, too. DD5 was supose to have her holiday party today since tomorrow is polar express pajama day. I guess they will do both tomorrow in the whole 2.5 hours they have for K. DS7 will have his holiday party tomorrow, since his pajama polar express day was yesterday. Tomorrow is our last day until next year also. We always have a 2 week break.

Syracuse has had 70" of snow this month. We are north of Syr, closer to Lake Ontario, so we have probably 25% more!
Had about 12-18 last night, but DH still left at 5 am for his YMCA workout. (Personally, I think he's nuts!)

I live in Newport News Va and it's been snowing for a little bit. DD12's school system called last night-automated-saying school was going to be out today. Surprised they called that early as a couple hours before, every school system within a 7 city radius was going to wait until early in the morning.


but I all ready stocked up on groceries-which i needed regardless the other day, I wasn't about to deal with craziness of grocery store the night before snow was coming.


I am not into snow and wonder what this winter will be like, earlier this year we had some and now 2nd time in week where snow has come, 1st time was dusting and gone by late afternoon, then snow is forecasted again for the weekend. The "snow" the other day was just sticking to grass not the road, but our street is now white.

Everyone who MUST go out please be careful.

It was a little chilly here yesterday. -18 was our official low temperature (not with windchill, just the regular air temperature)

It was warmer today, only -5 when we got up.

.....and, not one snow day for DD!!!! Only had 1 or 2 hour delays to clear the roads.

DH is getting tired of clearing it morning and night though!

We've got a huge storm coming in tomorrow and it's supposed to rain for 5 days straight!

It's 39 degrees at 9 AM - that's COLD for us! Hopefully, with the rain the temperature will go up. (if it doesn't, we may get snow!)

Well, it's gotten above freezing here finally, though it is raining. We woke up to a thin coating of ice on everything (I have some beautiful pictures). Our roads are wet but clear of snow and ice. I shoveled the slush off the driveway and salted earlier.

I need to go out a bit later, but I will be back before the temps plummet again and the roads refreeze. I am actually more worried about how it will be tomorrow morning with the temps falling below freezing again tonight. Luckily I won't be going anywhere tomorrow, but will be hope with the Christmas music on and baking cookies and other wonderful treats.

I don't know how bad it is, but it is snowing here now. They've closed just about all the schools in the area early. Mostly we're going to different parts of the building and watching traffic crawl. Everyone is trying to get some place in a hurry and it just isn't happening.

My poor ds is stuck at his school. He wanted to leave since his last exam is over and I told him he might as well just stay there since all the traffic is stuck (his school is near my work).
