I'm excited but wondering if we are going to die from heat! Those that have been around the 10th of June or so is it really hot? Last year we went in April and it was just perfect weather wise.

Also any last minute tips for us? Is there any new attractions this year besides Soaring and Mt. Everest? I want to make sure we definitely see any new attractions and rides this year. There's some we missed last year so those will be on our list as well.

Anything different we should know for those that went last year and recently went this year? Just want to make sure I've got all my bases covered :)

I told myself I was going to get on the treadmill 3 weeks prior to this trip so I wouldn't die on day 2 from all the walking and here it is less than a week and I have YET to get on the darn thing. Oh, am I going to be sorry I'm sure. Do they have scooters :moped: you can rent? What about those stand up things the employee's zip around on. Just curious, I saw some tour group with those. Do they rent those? Not that we would as we have kids and I need the excersise anyway, but just wondering.

Anything on your "Whatever you do, don't forget to take..." list that you want to share. I swear I'm going to forget something real important and get there and have to pay $20 for it instead of $3 like I would here at home (:

Thanks!

You sound just like me! We are going to be there June 9 - 23 and I swore I would have a walking plan down weeks ago, but here it is, days away from leaving and I just started walking on Sunday! Oh well, ever little bit helps!

Aren't you getting sooooo excited?!? My front room is full of stuff I need to pack and I have been going crazy trying to remember everything I need. I figure as long as I take my bank card and a good pair of walking shoes, everything should be ok...like my husband keeps telling me, "they have stores there ya know!!"

Have a great trip! Only days away!!

Helen

Take your water strap, or buy one there. :drinking1
Take your sunscreen. :sunny:
Most important- take your positive attitute :goodvibes because it will probably be crowded
See you there :wave2:

Wow Helen,

Your going for a looooong trip! How fun! Last year we went for a full 7 days. This year we couldn't get the flights for our Visa miles on dates that would make it a full 7 days but that's ok. I'm starting to pack now. Last year I WAY over packed. So this year I'm going to try and not pack too much. But wish me luck because I always think "Oh, I might need that or need this". Ofcourse I always over pack for the kids in case they need that extra 17 pairs of shorts or something LOL!

I'm determined to get on that treadmill starting right after I get off here. Like you said, every bit will help and last year day two I was really hurtin' so hopefully I can avoid some of that. Have fun!!

LVSWL,

Yes, I was wondering about the crowds in June. Is it packed would you say? Thank goodness for Fast Passes ;) I'm actually more conserned about the heat than I am it being more crowded. When we went last year in April the crowds didn't seem bad at all, but then again that was our very first time being there.

It will be HOT (don't forget your spray fans!!) !! It will be crowded (don't forget your patience!!)!! . . . but we'll be WDW !!   We were there in June last year and it was hot and crowded, but we had a blast by getting to the parks early, spending the afternoons at the pool (getting a FP before we left), then going back in the evening.
I was doing really well on my daily walking plan, then got hit with an unexpected kidney surgery last month - I'm determined to do this SWW trip with my little DNeph before my next surgery at the end of the month - so I've had to put the walking thing in perspective. . . now I'll just be happy if I can crawl through the parks and stay out of a wheel chair !!! :thumbsup2 I have my sunscreen, sunglasses, disposable ponchos, crocs, hat, spray fan, tickets and credit card - I think I'm ready!
Whoo Hoo :woohoo: - here we come !! :smooth:

Do they sell the spray fanc at the parks? :confused3

swoodard - I know they sell the big ones (I think I saw someone post they were $17.00), but we much prefer the little ones that fit into our fanny packs - we buy them at BB&B or WalMart for about $4 or $5. They are life savers in the heat!

Thanks, my wife has looked at WM and no luck. We dont have a BB-B. I bought 4 off e-bay but that dont work at all like they should. Yes I want a small one also, no way we would lug around a larger one.

Thanks again, Steve

I'll be there the 8th-15th! See you guys there!

Don't Forget Your Sunscreen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Swoodard -

Also check your grocery stores - like Publix or Kroger if you have one. Their seasonal aisles usually have them too. Also places like Target if you can't find them in Wally World.

As for the heat - living in Georgia for the last few years I've learned one thing - drink tons and tons of water!! If you're not visiting the little girls (or boys) room at least 3 times during the day - you're not drinking enough water!!! Drink, drink, and drink some more!

We leave in 3 days!!! Woo Hoo!!! See you there!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc   :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'll be there melting with you guys! I leave in 2 days :cool1: 8th-16th at Pop, then CSR. I am so excited. So much to do.

Helen, I'm the same way, I bring everything i can think of & then some. And we will have a car & I know where all the stores are so why must I buy so much now  DH thinks I'm nuts too.

Karvay- I came back from my last trip saying "ok we didnt use half that stuff so I'm going to cut way back on packing." Well I officially put things in suitcases today so we'll see if I can. I can so relate to those "extra 17 pairs of shorts" :rotfl2:

I'll be there June 17th thru the 23rd. I know it will be hot, but that is the only time I could get vacation time :sad2: O Well...

We will be there from the 11th until the 23rd, and yes it is hot hot hot!

The best time, like Bjakmom said, is to go early in the morning, swim break, and then hit the parks at night.

What ever you do make sure you have a good time :goodvibes

We leave in the morning(June 7) and are staying til the 18th! :cool1: I should be packing, but I am on the Dis boards :sad2: Hope to see some of you there! Hope everyone has a great trip! :woohoo:

I'm getting married on Friday and we leave for Disney on Saturday morning! I think I probably check weather.com about five times a day checking the weather for here (looks good so far for Friday) and Orlando - which looks like it's gonna be stinkin' hot! Yikes! But I'll be honeymooning in Disney - can't get much better than that!

we'll be there June 15-18 and then on to the Wonder for our first cruise.
We are planning on trying one of the water parks this year to try and beat the heat. Don't think we are going to do any of the other parks though - can you believe it ? I think I will go through withdrawal but we decided with the cruise we were just going to lie low for the first few days.

We'll be there June 17-23. Our trips the last few years have been in January, so we will be in for a shock. It will be very hot. I keep pulling up the 15-day forecast, which says "very humid" for our first few days. Good thing we know to get there when the parks open. :) We'll just be happy to be on vacation in our favorite place. :jumping1: Have a great trip!

I was just looking at weather.com and looks like it's going to be 92-94 degrees for the most part...whew, I'm hot just thinking about it. Also it said 4 of the 6 days there will be scattered thunderstorms. I would imagine they shut down the outdoor rides during thunderstorms correct? Or do they do that even if it is just raining?

We live not too far from Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio and they shut down the coasters and other outdoor rides if it rains. Just wondering if Disney does the same?

We are going to be there June 10th-15th.The thunderstorms usually don't last very long and lots of people leave when it starts raining. So we just find somewhere to eat or shop to wait out the storm.

We are leaving on the 11th! 5 more days! Yeay!! I just asked the same question about the June heat and humidity on the Families board and got a lot of responses from people who have just returned. You might want to check it out.

We bought the small spray fans from Wal Mart for our kids (we're hoping they'll have fun spraying US also :rotfl: ), taking water bottles, and planning on going back to the resort to rest and swim every afternoon. Hopefully we'll survive!

What I'm more worried about is the crowds. This is the first time we are going as a family so I'm afraid we don't have a good plan. Although, I have read the Unofficial Guide cover to cover and gotten lots of ideas from these boards! I'm still afraid we'll be lost! But we'll be lost at WDW!!
