Who's baking and whatcha making?

I bake a couple times a year and generally it is boxed stuff.
A couple weeks ago my partner and I baked a Lane Cake from scratch (with the Bourbon) and it was a lot of work. Saw the recipe in an article about "To Kill a Mockingbird" and it sounded good. Didn't have a double boiler so we improvised. Had to make the frosting twice as the first batch didn't set up well.
The cake is a hearty cake and I wasn't sure I liked it at first but it really grew on me.

Your cake is beautiful! Wowie, how do you do the icing that way!

Tina -- could you post the cranberry cookie recipe (or tell me where it is on the DIS).

I love reading your baking posts.

Many thanks!

Combine oats, flour, baking soda and salt in a separate mixing bowl. Add to butter mixture in several additions, mixing well after each addition. Stir in sweetened dried cranberries and white chocolate chunks. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Makes approximately 2-1/2 dozen cookies.

I just used a rubber spatula. The frosting came out somewhat stiff and was easy to spread and manipulate. Just pulled it away from the surface and the peaks formed. :)
