Who's already been to MNSSHP? Question about dressing up

Hi Everyone -

I have a question for those who have already been to MNSSHP. I just got off the phone with WDW and they told me if I wore a Disney Character costume I would not be allowed in. My husband and I are going to be Alice and the Mad Hatter. We actually made our costumes. If I knew this before now I could have chose different costumes for us to wear. Now it is too late. Has anyone had this problem of not being allowed in to MNSSHP? It sound a little strange to me. I have gone before in a Disney costume and they did not say anything to me or my husband, but the resort personally called me after I emailed them this question. The only reason I had this question is because I emailed them to find out what was happening on Halloween and they told me about Pleasure Island and no Disney Costumes. What is that about? I'm going to Disney! What else would I wear for Halloween? Please let me know if you had trouble getting in wearing a Disney Costume.

We were there on the 19th and we will be there tomorrow....there were TONS of people dressed in disney characters!!! TONS!!!! There has been much discussion about this and I think it is all unfounded, do a search if you can, there are several threads about this. I too was worried as my husband has a pretty elaborate batman costume and we were afraid we wouldnt be let in. WE had no problem, in fact all the CM's really enjoyed the costumes and the more elabaorate the better!!!
Wear your costume and have a great time!
We felt like celebrities everyone was wanting to take their pictures with my DH!!!!

They request that if you wear a Disney character costume you do not pose for photos or try and sign autographs...not that you would, but that is the only rule against wearing a character costume. There are LOTS of people dressed as Disney characters, my 20 year old sister-in-law went as Belle (in the Blue dress) which she also made her own costume and had no problem. The just asked her to be respectful of the characters reputation, since the younger kids would not know the difference between her in costume and the real Belle.

You'll see some sights! DH said he saw lots of men with no dignity!

Don't worry about--we were there on the 10th and I was Grumpy and my sister was Sorcerer Mickey. We saw lots of Disney costumes on kids and adults.

It's Disney World for crying out loud!!! I 'm sure if you don't go around MK charging for autographs or jumping on the parade floats, you will be fine. Have a great time, wish I were going with

I don't know who told you that, but they are wrong! I work at MK (or did until this week- I'm going to AK now), and there is a poster backstage about costume rules. It says guests who resemble characters need to be told not to sign autographs or pose for pics. I went to the party dressed as Alice and didn't have any problems at all. In fact, I ran into the real Alice in the parade, and she got a kick out of my costume. She even let me skip around with her masquerade mask for a moment!

Yes that was us!!! We had a great time!! My husband had fun being a "celebrity" for the night!! It was so fun!!

We were there on the 19th and saw a MAN dressed as Snow White. He had seven little kids dresses as the dwarfs. Anyone else see them? It was a riot!
