Doctor Who star David Tennant has apparently been offered a whopping £1.5 million to stay in his role as the time travelling adventurer.

He's already signed up to appear as the Doctor for four special shows, but beyond that, there are no fixed plans.

Lots of papers and websites have been saying the BBC are so keen on Tennant staying as the Doctor they're ready to shell out loads of cash.

The fifth series of the hit show is planned to arrive in 2010.

I don't mind Dr Who, I watch it occasionally but I do think he's good in the role.

When you think of what US tv "star's" can get paid per episode $1+ it's not that over the top, is it?

I realise he'll want to go eventually but I really hope he'll stay for the fifth series.

He's worth every penny - he's very good.

Good for him The BBC would've been mad to let him go without putting up a fight. He's a great Doctor (though not as good as Christopher Eccleston)

I suppose with all the merchandise and royalties he probably ended up with alot anyway. That's why TV shows such as Friens got paid so much.

Good for him If the BBC think he's worth that, then he would be crazy to refuse it.

If you think its for 14 episodes, and the show has brought in ratings of 10 million each Saturday and 14 million at Christmas and is sold to many countries, also has DVD, and to cross sales it actually makes Money for the BBC.

David has been a great Doctor I hope he sticks around for one more series, with the new boss in charge
