Whooping Cough and the stomach bug

Here is to hoping we escape both of these . They are going around here & we are down to 12 days before Disney and I'm really nervous .
Anyone else get paranoid during the the last two weeks of countdown??

Yes! I pumped everyone full of fluids and made sure they got plenty of rest. DD got sick anyways, but they day we left the Disney high made her recovery MUCH quicker!

I had Whooping Cough two winters ago. It was the most awful sickness I have ever had. I would probably hibernate in my house if I knew it was going around here again.

I didn't even know you could get whooping cough if you had been vaccinated (which ds has been) but they said you can still get it . Anyway...we are traveling with another family & they have a 2 and 3 year old (7 ppl total, including us) the odds are probably against one of us .

I making everyone in the house take an Airborne-style liquid in the hopes that we'll get though the next 9 days with nothing too nasty. No easy task with 2 kids in preschool. I'm tempted to pull them out next week and lock them in their rooms .

I know what you mean. My ds takes a multi vitamin but I have increased his C vitamin .

We'll be there the same time as you! As far as I know only colds are going around their schools, but I am still worried!

The last time I was at the doctor, she had me get a booster for whooping cough because it is becoming more common and most adults have lost immunity. I am assuming if you have had the vaccinations, it wouldn't be as severe!

We're driving Fri evening/Saturday so our first day in the parks will be Sunday. We can't wait, but I still have a lot to do!!

I had the vaccine as a child but, the Dr said I more then likely no longer had immunity. I got a booster for that and Rubella since when they tested for that I was not immune. I never thought you could get it either. I looked at the Dr like he was crazy. But, he told me my cough was text book. Then it got worse.

I'm the paranoid one in the family. I leave in 5 days and I've been washing my hands so much that they're getting rough!! And...I've stayed away from the Gym, all sorts of crowds...am I nuts or what????? I'd stay home from work if DH would let me!!!!

Seriously, no one likes to travel when they are not feeling well or when the children aren't well. Especially if air travel is involved. I actually wound up at my Allergy Dr.s this week because my ears have been "stuffy" from allergies. Now, I know I'll be fine in the plane because with a little help, they do "pop". But just the "thoughts" of what "could" happen with air pressure sent me into a panic!!!
